1970 POLARA 383 4BBL N CODE 1 of 19 BUILT! Convertible. I am a Mopar guy but unfortunately I am not a C body Mopar guy. I got this car along with a Barracuda I wanted it was a package deal. I had no idea how rare it was until I researched it after a friends suggestion. This car was parked sitting since 1996! that is the last inspection sticker on it. I wanted to see if it would run so I pulled the plugs filled the cylinders and soaked it with marvel mystery oil for a week (NEVER take a breaker bar to a dry engine that has been sitting for years!!! fastest way to crack a few rings) I then changed the oil and filter. I pulled the distributor and primed the engine until it had oil pressure to the top. While the distributor was out I tossed the points and condenser to the garbage can where they belong and installed a petronix electronic ignition conversion. I then installed a new cap and rotor, new wires and spark plugs, new fuel pump. I hooked the new pump to a gas can primed her and she started right up like she was running yesterday. It runs good, the exhaust needs replacing its rusted and leaky from sitting. Once I new she was a good runner I installed a new gas tank, sending unit, battery, alternator, fuel filter. I then changed a leaking water pump, as well as a leaky heater control unit with an NOS mopar unit. I also changed the upper & lower radiator hoses and changed all four belts. The car fires right up and runs good I ran the trans thru the gears drove forward and back and it moves fine. I then moved on to the brakes. I changed the power booster & master cylinder both with brand new units. I also installed all of the following NEW PARTS new rear drums, new rear wheel cylinders, all new rear hardware and shoes. Up front fresh calipers, hoses, rotors, wheel bearings dust caps & seals. Along with one new brake hardline I snapped when taking the hose off. The brakes still need to be bleed the pedal is soft and low. I tried bleeding them myself with the one man bleeder but it is not working right. I have no friends to help me do it the old fashioned (right) way but if I can get some help I will re bleed them before the car leaves here. The body on this car has held up well through the years I am told by the previous owner it was an NC car all its life which means a lot being as we don't use road salt. It was re-painted its original white in 1990 that same year it had an engine rebuild which I still have the receipt for. Along with a stack of receipts from through the years pre 1996 and old inspection receipts which support the 103097 mileage to be correct. The frame rails and floors look very solid along with the trunk pan. The top still goes up and down smoothly it appears to be the original top. The plastic rear window is faded from age. This is an easy restoration project the car has good bones to start with. It is running but has to be trailered due to the brakes not stopping this beast like they should and tires are OLD and dangerous. I have a clear NC title in my name it is my own personal car I am not a dealer. No financing, No trades just need the space and don't have any interest in the car.
