learned something new today, I would not have figured that to be original with the redone seats. Luxury sport.

..and notice the spoked rims are aluminum according to the brochure. Didn't know that before.

Me either caught it in reading the ad though

1970 Mercury Marauder $39,000

Description
1970 Mercury Marauder x100 2-door hardtop with the 429 4-barrel engine in ivory with the blacked out rear deck and brown deluxe interior. Extremely nice Florida car from the estate of an Orlando man with no modifications and only 63,715 Miles. The original 429 11.0:1 compression ratio 360 horse engine is completely stock & unmodified. Still fitted with the original 4-barrel carb, cast iron intake, cast iron exhaust manifolds, and factory aircleaner assembly. All original stickers are still in place and has never been apart. Runs perfectly on premium pump and there are no issues; no smoke, no leaks, no noises. Starts immediately and settles into a smooth idle with a deep exhaust note. With 360 horsepower and 486 b.ft.of torque, spins the tires with the throttle and accelerates briskly; feels like a 428 Grand Prix. The factory heavy-duty C6 automatic transmission shifts perfectly and the factory 3.00 positraction Ford 9" rearend allows relaxed cruising. Power steering and power disc brakes for safe easy driving. Extremely nice driving car. 100% original interior in outstanding condition. 6-way power 60/40 split front bench seat with the center armrest; works properly in all 6 directions and is in perfect condition with no wear. Perfect original carpets with no marks. Perfect original headliner. Power windows (all work properly) and ice cold factory air conditioning. Rim-Blow steering wheel; also works perfectly. No cracks in the dash, no sunfade on the gauges, and no heat cracks in the steering wheel. Exceptionally nice interior, very comfortable; that is all original. Excellent body with no dents, no dings, no wavers and I cannot find any body filler or signs of collision repair. The paint is the correct color (Ivory) and looks great with the blacked-out rear deck. The paint was resprayed the original color2013. Original chrome front & rear bumpers in good but on perfect condition. There is a small dent under the rear bumper (can only be seen if laying on the ground) and the chrome is goodj Very good original brightwork and trim. Excellent glass and all windows work smoothly. Factory hide-away headlights operate perfectly; opening & closing with the headlight switch. Factory X100 only alloy wheels with the brushed stainless steel trim rings fitted with P225-70-15 white wall radials. Rear fender skirts for that long low look. The trunk contains the original carpet, original jack, and spare wheel. Just professionally detailed; buffed, hand-waxed and turnkey ready for cruises & shows. Extremely nice. These x100s were produced for only two years, 1969 and 1970. They were Mercury's entry into the powerful personal luxury car race and competition to Pontiac's Grand Prix. Mercury fitted them with their high performance 429 engine and heavy-duty drivetrain, largest disc brakes, alloy wheels, hide-away headlights, finder skirts, sweeping rear sail panels, and two-tone paint. They drive & ride like a luxury car but have the power of a muscle car; with that classic 60's look They have virtually all disappeared and are now rarely seen. Very neat car.

not as rare as the hurst 300, but I can tell you, that these cars and the ford cousin galaxie 500 sportroof and XL, had soft steering, hardly any roadfeel, and the chrysler front ends[torsion bar] were superior to its ford counterpart, must say that the craftsmanship, and detail. was better on the fomoco products and not as many elec. issues. I've had the pleasure of owning 15 or so of these cars, from wagons to sportroofs, from 64 to 71 most of them being the 69/70, sportroof models and most with the 429 thunderjet 360 h.p.dual exhaust 4 bbl. carb. powerplant. My first was when I was 17, went to a junk/salvage yard,in western kansas, must of had 20 or so venerable cars and hot rods all lined up when you pulled in.Not really knowing what I wanted decided on the car with the 4-spd. it was a 69 sportroof with a factory 8-track player, years later only to find out that it was a very low production car less than 500 galaxie 500's with the 429 4 spd. were produced , it was also the last year of the 4 spd. in a fullsized ford. there were XL's and also G.T.'s that had the 4 spd. but that was a low # as well. In 66,67 mercury had a torquey little known powerplant the 410 mercury marauder, 390 slugs with the 428 crank, dropped one in a 73 f-250 and could litterally spin the tires at will for as long as I liked, though it was a one legger, it was a hell of a lot of fun to drive. Me too, these had 4 speeds and 427/425. Now that would be a desirable screamer
I know that 69 was the last yr. you could get a 4 spd. in a full size ford, I had a 69 Galaxie 500 with an N code 429{4 bbl. dual exhaust}.They made around 400 Galaxies with the 4 spd. but a higher number for the XL's and GT.s Never seen a 4 spd. in a 69 Merc. don't mean they didn't, seen a few in the 63,64 Marauders, have also seen em in the mid 60's Merc's Parklane/Marauder S-55s. Ford underrated the horsepower on their "Cobra Jet", actual h.p. was around 410 don't know if the "Super Marauder 28" was as well but I'm sure their was a bit of trickery gone on in the Merc. camp also. Chrysler did the same with the "Hemi", 425 was actually closer to 470 horses.
