Another way to put it is that the standard roof line cars have the convex back window while the "formal" roof line has the concave back glass and 3rd and 4th digits in the VIN are"29".
From the side, the vertical angles of the c-pillar are different as well.

Thanks for posting the pics of the blue and black cars,I think that's the first formal roof car I've seen that doesn't have a vinyl top.Looks good like that.

Ok, good to know.. Do have any profile shots of each to display here?

Check out post #3 and #4 in this thread for side shots of the two different roof lines.

For Sale - Nice 70 sport fury 2dr

While were on the topic of formal roof cars, does anyone know if the back glass on a formal roof coupe is the same as that on a 4 door? They look very similar to me in pictures but I've never seen two of them parked together to compare in person.

BTW, here's another clue to determine the roofline, the corner point in the VT trim.
Interestingly, though, the 70 Chrysler 2-dr roofline (prob 69-71), which has the convex/popped-out rear window, has a similar treatment on the VT trim. It has the same sharp line coming down the roof as the Formal Fury, but that line goes into the quarterpanel on the Chrysler, it does not on either Fury roofline. (BTW, there is only 1 roofline on the Chrysler 2dr)

My Hollander book shows same rear window for 1969, 1970, & 1971 Fury 2-door formal top and 4-door hard top and 1969-1970 Fury 2-door sedan, also 1969-71 Polara/Monaco 4-door HT.

(off topic: but I have tinted 1970 Fury 2-door formal top rear window and formal top quarter glass if someone wanted them, PM, and we'll work out a price. Like enough to cover my gas and time to drop them off at UPS)
