Purple is not the original color. The original color was gold. Some one then painted it light blue. The latest owner filled the quarters with screen and enough bondo to keep the Bondo factory open for a day. Then he painted it Purple. Not sure if I got or kept the fender tag. I doubt it was a 999. Parted the car in 2014.

More History, if you want a laugh: The car sat in a field for some period of time. A flipper purchased it. In addition to the severe rear window rot, the roof was perforated. It had big dents in the back of the front sub frame, as well as rust holes at the front right of that subframe. Also, bondo at the bottom of fenders. 1/3 of the trunk floor crumbled in dust. Rust holes in rear subframe and left spring shackle. I bought in WVA in 2012. Flipper claimed rust free. I made him sign contract with me saying which parts had to be on car when the truck driver picked it up. To his credit, nothing was missing. He had also cleaned ant hills out of the trunk and pass front floor pan. I paid $2000.

Car was a treasure trove of parts. worn but running 1969 440, 1968 727, 8.75 742 3.23 sure grip rear, front disc brakes, power brake pedal and booster, front bumper, working hidden HL grill, front bucket seats, wheel rims, trunk lock, misc. All of which went into this car.

I rebuilt 440 and 727. Car is super fun to drive. Purple, light blue, gold car died for a good cause.

So here’s my stupid question for the day. What term is used to designate the concave (innie) roof that also had a “post” instead of being a hardtop? Is that the “Gran Coupe?” And is it essentially the same as a hardtop but equipped with a stationary window and post instead of one that rolls down? Unfortunately I don’t have access to these cars in the real world or I’d look myself.

The one in the background. If I’m not mistaken I’ve seen that in hardtop configuration and as a post. Did they just bolt in a fixed window and post or is there significant structural difference?

The 2-door with the concave "innie" rear window and a full B pillar post from the floor to the roof is a 2-door sedan. The 1970 Gran Coupes were built as 2-door Fury II sedans dressed up with the Gran Coupe vinyl top, interior and the hidden headlamp grille from the Sport Fury. From 1971 to 1973 the Gran Coupes were based on the Fury II 2-door hardtop instead of the 2-door sedan. I believe that 1971 was the first year of the C Body Furys ('65 - '73) that you could get a 2-door hardtop Fury II as in prior years Fury I & Fury II's were only available as 2 or 4 door sedans (& wagons).

I am pretty sure that the rear windows roll down in a Fury I or Fury II 2-door sedan unlike the RoadRunner's (for example) with a full B Pillar and fixed rear side windows.

In Canada, Fury II 2dr hardtops were available from 1966? Up to 70? I know where to find a 69 Fury II 2dr hardtop in a yard, for example.
A 67 Fury II 318 Ploy with 3 on da tree was posted for sale here a while back and was in the Canuckian Praries.

I like the innie and outtie roofs both. There is a sweeeeet two-owner purple innie in central KS I really wished I had the cash for.

If you look at the car standing right behind it the PH29 "innie" looks better as it has fluent lines coming down towards the trunk area but from a 90° angle it looks terrible. The "fluent" design made the c pillar become so massive that it just disturbes the overall design.
There are color combinations though that fit the PH29 quite well just like clothes with horizontal stripes make you look bigger and plain black hides some pounds.
