nice pic..of the car :). great tradition man, seriously. i have daughters in their mid 20's. they always liked my cars..especially waving at the people along Woodward Ave during the cruise a decade ago, or just hopping in something and going to get ice cream on a warm summer night a few years before that. not so much now as they are doing their own thing out of state, but maybe I'll finally talk them into driving a couple of my well-mannered sleds this year in the Cruise. i missed the deadline for the Berkely parade so i guess i will just be a spectator.
Deadline for registration is July 3rd, your in luck.

thanks...i am obviously mistaken as i believed spots could not be secured for the 2014 event after November 2013. so yes, i am in luck. thanks again.

Could we see some of these? How about the monaco in your avatar? Got some great looking cars! Good luck with the sale!

hi and thanks. i will find a way to put the c-body cop rides i have left on this site, probably in the photo gallery section.

I like this from what I can see. The listing has ended and it tells me it has been relisted but that page does not exist. I even like the wheels.

yes the newport is relisted for a future date. i dont know why ebay shows auctions that are relisted for a future date the way they do. in my ebay seller account it shows that it is getting page views which seems odd when they put that "page doesnt exist" message on their system. if it doesnt exist, how can it accumulate page views? anyway, we'll see what happens next time around.

Thanks. Oh man, its a fun old cruiser.

It shakes and growls, gives you a hint of "torque roll" with a pat of the gas pedal, has pretty good road manners relatively speaking for a car of this size in this era, and possesses effortless, boundless-seeming acceleration..even before we dialed it up a bit. i will put some better pics up end of summer when we finish it.

I drive it like the proverbial "little old person" (whom I hope to live long enough to become btw), not succumbing to the temptation put my foot in it, when that's all I wanna do. I am only glad I didn't own it when I had much less sense than I do now. :glasses11:

But seriously I kinda feel a sense of duty (i am not and never have been in law enforcement) to "preserve and protect" these true pieces of American history as a small tribute to those folks who did their duty in this actual car and others like it...everywhere, everyday, back then, now, and into the future! (sorry for the sentimental rant)

The Mopar squads were, for their time, technical wonders. Except for the Hemis, few seem to realize they had the same powertrains as their more famous B and E body cousins, plus enough fluid cooling for almost two cars, brakes of the same size as vehicles weighing much more, built like military tanks, and could run all day long at 100-mph if asked to.

Too many met their end "on duty", or crashed-up in movies, or more sadly to me harvested for their parts for hot rods and restos (nothing against that..not every car can be saved so better cars should benefit in that case) and left as rusty hulks in a sort of "ignominy" not suited for the service they once performed.

Again of course I know every old cop car, practically speaking, cannot be saved no matter the importance of their service. But hey, I am just trying to do what I can to keep a few around, that I have run across at least, for posterity.

take care.

Drive that 71 like she was supposed to be driven..........

yeah, i hear ya brother on the driving thing ...powerful cars have a mysterious way weighing down your right foot it seems.

on my original, "numbers-matching" cars, even cop cars that may have went through much more than I could ever do, i try to let them live their days under my care in leisure. no rainy day driving, no hot doggin, tire squealing ...just easy days and nights tooling around under 70 mph.

ive got some other stuff tho...of the "gassed", "blown", "bored and stroked", "cammed and rolled" variety.. that were not sufficiently original when I acquired them but that DO get, lets say, exercised more vigorously from time to time :angel11:.

i only have ONE C-body in that category and it happens to be an ex-cop car: 1973 Polara. dunno what department had it, but when i got it someone had lifted its original motor, tranny, and rear end.. it now sports a naturally aspirated, 512 cubic inch R/B engine, an indestructible 727, and a Dana 60.

it looks just like any Polara cop car sedan of the era at first glance, except the sharp eyed would see the 15x9 wheels and 275/60's out back. start it up tho, and then anybody could tell "something" is going with it. Granny's dog barks and bites, and doesn't like to be walked with a leash. I will put some pics in the gallery in the future...its not in the "rotation" for exercise this summer.

take care.

That car is a numbers matching 440 71 and she begs to run....... You don't keep a thoroughbred in the barn....you let it run but still pamper it..

Not crazy...... I wasn't even looking at the screen when I took the picture.........

i just worry, especially with the cop cars, that original "numbers-matching" powertrain cars decades old only have so much left in them. even after you rebuild original things, its still 35-40-50 year old stuff.

nothing scientific about my view, perhaps not even fully rational (i.e, old stuff in good shape can surely still get it done) but i'm certain if something big blows up in the engine for example, and its beyond repair, a key piece of originality may be gone forever.

i'm lucky to have a couple other non-original sleds that satisfy the "need for speed"...for the sheer fun of it or just to on rare occasions remind owners of lesser cars that they shouldn't be tweakin' a sleeping lion's nose. so if it gets broken doing that stuff, it can get fixed with some more non-original stuff.

btw, thats a heckuva picture you added. I've yet to see any of mine do that. if you get a minute and without any more info (except privately) on where, how, or when, what kind of Mopar stretched out a "Certified" cop speedo like that? :icon_keel:. Stock or built up?

I am no stranger to pinning my c body speedos. I once had my 71 four door sedan pushing the needle past the 140 mark, passed the 1 the 2 the D the N and pushing the R on the Atlantic City Expressway, that was around 86. The 440 was far from stock with a 276 gear.
The Mercedes that was egging me on stayed with me.....with air on

Another, same car coming back from Carlisle on the PA pike....... She was all out and the 71 454 SS Chevelle convertible that was running with me walked by me...with the top down.... Those are just a few of many

She's all stock......1971 440.......85000 original miles..... In southern New Jersey

yep, that'll do it. probably could've pegged it...though please I am not encouraging you to show that it can :icon_viking:. lets be safe out there. thanks again for bouncing back.

when I finish my ex-NJ State Police unmarked '72 Fury resto in a couple years, i will have that photo of yours in mind. take care.

I'd drive it....right to the wheel store. I do love it though.

I didn't see this thread before but it looks good!!!

I think a setup with the Cragar SS rims would do this thing proud too!
