NOT MINE 1971 Dodge Polara Police

I had no idea that was Fred's car on the cover (I have that particular edition). Gorgeous example that is fitting for the cover of the magazine.

Whenever I read some of Godshall's stuff, I often wonder where he got his mistaken beliefs.............................

Humm...me thinks Wyatt or Manny has been looking at this one.....
Guy I know bought it for the drive train for his 71 Charger got the car home and it's a 66 HP motor and a 73 trans. He's still keeping the 440 set up and I should be going on Wednesday and getting some stuff from it. Both leaf springs are through the trunk passenger floor is gone front stub is shot.

That is a bit more comforting knowing the car would / could likely never be saved.
Aggravating knowing it is what it is and it was left to rot away.

Very sad to see it that way 20 years ago maybe it still would of been saved. I'm gonna try and get the tags and vin and look for the broadcast sheet of it still there. I'm getting the 140 speedo, battery shield, ticket light and fast idle.

That is Fratzog Fred's polara on the cover.

I bought that issue because of the car on the cover and that's before I knew Fred. That issue is now in safekeeping with Bob @1978 NYB

There was a bit of friendly rivalry going on with that. Fred's car deservingly so I was put on the cover. I must admit I really wanted my car on there. Fred's photographer did a great job, mine, not so much. Infact, my photographer did a horrible job and appeared to want nothing to do with it. He was in a complete hurry.

I was into Fuselage Polaras 40 years ago. This car and cars like it I would have killed for. So sad to see it still there rotting when it could have been saved .

You know I love my Plymouth's but at some point I do want a 70 71 Polara in my life. A cop car like this one would like great restored.

Manny,

thanks for these infos.

I am sorry for your buddy that it turned out to be the wrong drivetrain.

That and the severe rust you point out makes it more acceptable for me that this car gets parted.

THANK YOU for being the man holding me back to buy this thing as long as it is complete (except the drivetrain).

If I just could go there and pick the benchseats, door-panels and spotlight-assembly...but thousands of miles and water in between.

Good hunting on parts, Manny!
