I bet it doesn't have a Dana. Probably a 8.75 maybe with a Sure Grip if you're lucky.

Unless he's talking about a 9.25 Dana. No way in hell that wagon came with a Dana 60 from the factory.

Pictures are old, Virginia tgs...could be..... Wish I was home to reach out to this guy

looks like that k car would fit in the back of the wagon. well, at least he "knows what he has"

Someone please send him the production numbers and a rope to hang himself

Done. Here is my email to him:

(Your wagon) Does not have a Dana 60 under it. It has either a 9-1/4" or an 8-3/4" rear, but no Dana 60 was ever under a full-sized Mopar. Your production number for the '71 Monaco wagon is in error. There were 2,071 two-seat wagons and 3,378 three-seat wagons built that year, far more than the 500 you state.

Thought you might like to know the real deal on your car. Good luck on the sale.

Dave that has your name all over it,and not to far from home. You could probably steal it for a few sheckles. He definately doesnt know what hes talking about,, I remember you saying you had Wagon Envy...lol...John

This wagon came with a 8.75 axle from the factory. The 9.25 axle wasn't available until the Formals began production for 1974. No Dana 60 in a 1971 wagon...ever.

I'm willing to bet that this car has a 9-1/4" under it from a later car, if the seller is somehow mistaking it for a Dana 60. Now, if he can't tell the difference between an 8-3/4" and a 9-1/4", he's in sad shape.

The 9-1/4's used on four speed Slabs was a Dana 53.
The 9-1/4's used 73+ were "Corporate" rears.

And we all know in probability the car has an 8-3/4. And a S/G is likely because it's a wagon.
But I have heard many morons think that Sure-grip = Dana

You're right. How many 4 speed slabs were made? 25? Dana 53's were used in some trucks and Jeep's. My 07 Titan has Dana 44's front and rear.

I'm pretty sure 1973's still had 8.75's. They didn't start using 9.25's until the Formals came out for 1974. That green 1973 Imperial I was looking at had a 8.75 axle.

Towards the end of production of the '73 model year, some cars got 9-1/4's when they ran out of the 8-3/4's.
I found a TSB on the Hamtrack Registry stating thus when somebody I knew on Fins bought a '73 Coronet and none of us could figure out why it had the 9-1/4.
