NOT MINE 1971 NY FB 4dr U code

CH43U1C246737 — if anyone needs a TNT ENGINE, the price ($900) is good assuming it turns.

Does anyone think the motor would turn free?
Looks doubtful, but with a hood on the car maybe.
A few parts there.

Are the U codes uncommon on the New Yorkers? 4 door none the less?

I know I have not seen a U or T on a Newport but have seen a few new yorkers.

It might. The 73 Polara I just got sat for over 40 years and it turns over. Texas where this one is is almost as dry as AZ so good chance!

U Code 440s are very rare in civilian C bodies, especially luxury New Yorkers.

This is the third 71 NY U code I am aware of. The other 2 are the well known coupe owned by a member here and a Tahitian Walnut 4 door sedan that I saw on Ebay in the early 2000s.

The whole car should be saved, really since its such a rare beast. I don't think the body looks so bad, but then again I'm crazy and since I grew up in the rust belt, anything that does not have softball sized rot holes through it looks save-able to me, LOL!

On a side note - a blue California emissions tag.... p/n [Correction 3614876] - see sample of similar "T" code label below.

Interesting that the idle settings differ from a similar tag from one of @saforwardlook 's cars (photo below courtesy of Steve).

In addition to the above CH43U1C246737 (FQ5) and to @sixpkrt 's CH23U1C152920 (GY8 of which you are also aware, see here and here), I have:

CH43U1C163744 (TX9) -- see here
CH23U1C167133 (GJ4 owned by @RWCearley ) -- see here

--> Did you save the info (including the tag) about the GT8 sedan on eBay?

PS: There is also a Newport that @cuda hunter and I almost bought this fall: CL41U1C156640 -- see here

The difference in the idle settings is because the two tags with the 750 idle speed and 5 degrees BTC and from a standard T code 440 in California while the one with 900 RPM and 2 1/2 degrees BTC is that the latter one is for a 440HP in California.

@ayilar I know you keep good records, but how could you forget Steve's 71 NYer U code in CA. @saforwardlook
Good point. My excuse is that he acquired the car well before I started looking at C-bodies, and I am not aware of the tag info as a result. I still ought to have mentioned it.

--> Perhaps @saforwardlook could post the tag of his sunroof / FY1 Lemon Twist 1971 Chrysler New Yorker with 440HP. Zero pressure of course, it is his decision.

Above is a pic from the Mopar sunroof registry and below are two larger photos that Steve posted on FCBO back in 2016, two years before I acquired my first C-body (see here and here):

Im in the process of completing the restoration of my 71 U code New Yorker. Should be finished in 26. Noticed the blue engine tags in this post. Where can these tags be purxhased?

Correction to my post above thanks to Steve - the label for the car in the subject of this thread then would likely be p/n 3614876 (For a U code 440).

If yours was an original CA car, the tag was blue and PCG doesn't always don't stock new ones with the exact part number. You have to call to confirm. You may find a similar blue tag but the information will be incorrect. However, @saforwardlook had some made by Performance Car Graphics I believe.

Note: The last two digits of the emissions label will match line 5 of your build sheet under "Labels". See here:https://www.performancecargraphics.com/images/Small_Decals/Broadcast_Sheets.jpg

Yes, I did have the California version of the VEC emissions tag reproduced by PCG for my New Yorker with the 440HP engine. It took some arm twisting and coming across with considerable cash but my rare New Yorker with a very interesting history was worth it IMO.

I will post a photo of the body code plate soon.
