1971 Fury Gran Coupe. Rare car. One of 1200. 360 engine, Hideaway headlights with wipers, front disc brake. Runs strong, drives great, stops great. This is a survivor, original car. This is not a restoration or a modified. If you know Mopar you know this car and what the value would be with just a little polish.
 
Nice-looking Plymouth. The driver's seat base has been re-upholstered, and I wonder about the discolored GY4 paint on the driver-side fender and rear quarter. Are those rust bubbles under the vinyl above the windshield, or peeling vinyl? Can't tell from the pic.

I always wanted a 70. they were in a really beautiful Chocolate Brown. Very elegant. Drove one with the 383 - 2 barrel 8.7 to 1 Compression ratio. i always assumed this vehicle to have a 3:23 Sure Grip as it Really hauled.
 
Is that honeydew paint used for 1971 and 1972. Rare to have the headlight washing system. I think the headlight washing system was only an option for 1971. Driver seat bottom does look bad compared to the beautiful pattern on the cloth elsewhere. Must have been a squirmy butt that drove that car most of its life
 
I went to look at this car last week and it is much worse shape than the pictures suggest

Wow. Did you drive all the way to Huntsville, Al from Charlottesville? You had to be so disappointed. Hopefully you found other things along the way to help make you feel better about a two-day trip for nothing. I had studied the fb photos intently and had decided that this car was a $2K car (by my standards only) because I could see so much of the tell-tale signs.., not to mention the obvious glaring defects. To me, this car was already over the precipice. I have only now just stumbled across your actual Eye Witness assessment. Thank you very much for confirming my spydee senses. AND, on behalf of all of us, THANK YOU FOR POSTING FOR ALL TO SEE! (about my valuation...I just don't buy into this latest craze of super inflated asking prices, and I never will.)
I know what your looking for. Just be really patient and be saving your money as you wait. The one you want will eventually come to you, in all its pristine glory....and you'll have the money to make the deal happen. Thanks again for your sacrifice! -Not Right

Oops, I guess I posted twice there. I happened to be in Memphis for some music related research and made the 5 hour round trip to Sheffield where the car was located. The guy who was selling was a pleasant fellow but the minute I saw it I knew it wasn't for me. He was kind enough to let me drive it which was a thrill just to be behind the wheel of a Fury of this era after 25 years. My last Gran Coupe that I bought cost $350 but that was 25 years.
You are quite correct that I should wait it because one in Tahitian Walnut, 4 dr in good (not mint) condition is out there and I will pay good (not great!) money for it.

YES, you have got a great pair of Crickets there! I have read your opening conversation with Ayilar. Sounds like you've been there and done that on many auto issues.., and for a number of decades. I don't know what the photo would look like if you were to plop down a big 'ol Fury 4 Door in between your Mini Mopars....either a cartoon reference to Baby Huey.....or the beginning stages of the formation of a Carrier Group! Thumbs Up!

Thanks Not Right, I came to the US from London 37 years ago for music and cars (2 things the US used to excel at!) and quickly identified Chrysler Corp products as the ones to focus on.
Btw, the car in midnight blue is no Cricket, it's a 1969 Sunbeam Alpine coupe with 5k original miles!

Alpine! There you go. I was in a hurry and trying to remember what the name of your British version was...kept coming up with Sunpine. I was really wow-ed to learn that the Sunbeam Alpine was a Mopar relative. When I picture the early to mid 60's Sunbeam Convertible, I associate it with the looks (and the likes) of an open top MG Midgit...or something like that. Only, with far more style appeal. I don't want to step in it here. I'm like Shultz; "I Know NOTHINGGGG!!"
 
By the time Chrysler bought out Rootes group in 1967 the Alpine roadster was getting a little long in the tooth. The Tiger, having a Ford power plant was not going to warranteed by Chrysler and the mopar small block would not fit. So, end of Alpine roadster!
 
FYI, 1971 Gran Coupes came standard with the headlight washers and you could get a regular vinyl top in solid colors other than the paisley pattern. Most of the 1971 Gran Coupes that I have seen that are not brown didn’t have a paisley top.

My father's first C was a GC8 71 Gran coupe. Black vinyl top. Black vinyl/paisley seats. Headlight washers as well.

It does seem to be that if its not brown it likely won't have the paisley top.
