Ok here's the scoop and the pictures. Probably not going to be easy to just make it a driver without some pretty major restoration. I knew it had been sitting for a while but I didn't know how long. Looking at the overall condition and due to the fact it only has 61000 miles on it and still is sitting on four bias ply tires I'm guessing it hasn't been driven since the late 70's or early 80's. Luckily it's been stored inside most of the time but it must've been in a damp environment because it does have a lot of surface rust and top side rust. The motor does turn over which kinda surprised me looking at the engine bay. I'm going to try to get it running and clean it up the best I can and decide where to go from there. The car is complete and very structurally solid with good floors and just a few pinholes in the trunk so it is a good candidate for restoration. but probably not by me. Here's the pictures in the next post.

In case you're all wondering about the dog that's Misty. She's my "Varmint Sniffing Dog" I let her loose in there before I go in. It's not fun to be surprised by rattlesnakes, scorpions or packrats, all of which I've found in cars I drug home.

Lovely looking dog, say she has a nice temperament too....

Gotta love the AZ cars. Can't wait to get out there in August for school and use my free time to hunt for these kinds of cars. Great find!

This car is actually from Oklahoma which is why is has the rust it does. Also the vinyl top and interior being in decent shape tells you it didn't sit out in the AZ desert for long.

Awe, Misty. She is such a sweetheart! Looks like a great car...for me! :poke:
Let me know what you plan on doing with it, Chris.

congratulations Chris.

Rattlesnake?
In a car?

Please tell us the story

I am scared by black widows and brown recluse spiders already

Cleaned it all out so it looks a whole lot better. Did have a desert iguana come flying out of it when I unrolled the trunk mat but luckily nothing poisonous. Later I'm going to oil up the cylinders and see if she'll start. Put a battery in it and it does turn over with the key so it should run.

It runs! Replaced a bad fuel line from the pump to carb and using a remote fuel tank it ran. Fuel pump was pumping and it stayed running. Didn't want to run it long until I get some new oil in it but I had to know if the motor was good. Apparently it is.

Thanks for sharing the pics AZ I'm glad it got saved, hopefully someone will take it on, such a good looking car, front grill is to die for on those 71's, all credit to you mate
