I know I have seen factory vinyl color options posted on here somewhere. I've done a few search's and I can't find vinyl color .

Anyone have a picture of the 1971 color availability?

@cuda hunter and @Walter Joy -- the place to search is the Hamtramck Library:

Note that the 1971 gold top (V1Y is what I think @cuda hunter is specifically asking about) is significantly darker than in 1972, which is something I did not know till today:

The v1T and the v1Y are so very different in that picture.
They are apparently very different in person also. Were these specific changes in color that happened in the half year schedule?
Why are the tans and golds so different on both of those charts. Both are supposed to be for 71 as far as I can tell.

I sure do forget about the Hamtramck Historical site. Shout out to Barry Washington for putting that site together. He has sure helped with a wealth of knowledge.

ummmm. I think you'll find a lot of people contributed material.

It looks like the pattern is inverted between the two years. ‘71 looks like pattern lines are inset while the ‘72 pattern lines are the raised features.

Boar grain in both cases -- there's a color change but, AFAICT, no inversion. Here are two original tops:

1972 (my own NYB, Buttercup):

Ok. The samples above looked to be different. Now as I look at them again they do look the same. The lines and the focal point give the illusion. Kind of like those 3D pictures within a picture. Every time I look away and re focus my eyes they seem to change. The white sample from’72 is the worst.

I'm not familiar with who has provided the materials. I may have spoken out of turn by assuming, through hear say, that Barry is "responsible" for the info. Am I to say he is the curator of the historical web site? and the t/a registry??

It is Barry's site, he started it and he's responsible for it but many people have contributed material to the library to make it the public resource it is. I can personally attest that a LOT of Bailey's Irish cream was consumed in the making of the data and color and trim book material.

I bet that 1971 Gun metal gray was rare. I don't recall ever seeing many, if any, of them on cars

Have any pics of the car?
probably some where but not close. My mother died in fall 1973. My grandmother and I sold her car the following year as we also had the 73 NYB and 72 Imperial. If I find any pictures of that car, I will scan them in and post for comparison. Best wishes.

That color was beautiful and rare enough that it has its own FB group with a, b, c and e-bodies living in harmony. I don't own one in that color, but I joined to see the pictures,
