I just picked up a nice clean 4 dr sedan 85k mile 1972 NYer, rust free, etc, drove it home 700 miles without a hiccup. Great piece of american iron. I just went to price a new windshield (fresh glass always brightens these cars up) thinking that it was the same as the 2 and 4dr hardtop, but noooo, 69-73 sedan glass is different and apparently rare (500 -1000 bucks). Any suggestions on a better price for glass or substituions? That or unfortunately I'm going to have to sell it, I can't afford to break a windshield. Thanks:BangHead:

Welcome. What's wrong with the windshield that's in the car?

Welcome aboard. Assuming its not cracked (or is it ?) perhaps a bit of windex will brighten the glass?

Nothing really. Very minor pitting. What bothers me is that the hardtop winshields are 150 (glass price) 250 (installed) bucks and I can get them all day long. The 69-73 sedan winshield is nearly 1000 bucks and I break a windsheild every year! So I just go a great fuselage car that I'm now afraid to drive. I was looking for soewm alternative like using the hardtop glass somehow???

Please enlighten me. The hardtop winshields run 150 to 250. I looked all over for a 69-73 sedan windshield and a new one wirh shipping is a grand.

Welcome....nice car.

Do you have a picture or 2 of the car that you can post?

Is the sedan glass shorter because of a steeper angle?
welcome to the site from the Motor City!

Wait........ you are gonna sell the car because you are afraid to break the windshield? Why do you break a windshield every year?

Lots of hi-speed miles. Loose surface on I40 in NM/AZ/OK. I broke 4 wingshields this year. At $150 a pop no big deal at $1000 a pop it is a big deal. I have hardtops... no problem but the sedan windshields are apparently rare and pricey. So yep I'll sell it and buy a 2dr.

No idea. I was hoping soemone on this site could tell me. I was think it might be possible to mod the hardtop glass (tinted filler panel etc). That or Im going to vacuum mold a polycarbonate (Lexan) one.

Thanks. The car is great. Runs like a top. But Jeez, every other mopar I own the windshield glass is cheap. This thing is ridiculous. I'm hoping soemone has the dimesnsions on the glass comparing a hardtop and a sedan.... or a source for inexpensive glass.

How many quotes have you gotten? I'd have to persistent and call around, have the cheapest guy order six.. .... or keep a keener eye while driving
