1972 Dodge Monaco

75 mph with the pedal to the floor?
I understand he's not bragging, but sheesh, a VW Beetle would blow the door's off that slug.
A 72 Monaco deserves better.

I can deal with the wheels, although I would NOT go for the staggered sizes. If I was going to drive the car, I would want all FOUR wheels the same so they could be rotated every so often. Maybe in 18"s for more of a sidewall for a smoother ride with better-than-stock handling.

I would want more wheel travel, which a bit higher ride height would supply. That "pretender" hood scoop would GO somewhere else! Get the headlight doors aligned, too! That piece of side trim might be harder to do, though.

The acceleration, with a 360 2bbl and 2.71 rear axle ratio, is probably about right. It was NOT designed to be a hot rod by any means. Adequate, but not tire cooking. But we now live in a time when any 2.0L turbo 4cyl can totally run and hide from the 1970s cars, which have flavored the impressions and perception of the emissions-era cars in modern times. BTAIM

On the other hand, such cars do NOT have to prove anything to anybody!!! THREY are still here and offer things the modern cars usually do not offer. COMFORT in the traditional USA manner, which the modern suspensions are not capable of, usually. That car, as it sits, would also be a good candidate for a LA Stroker motor and beefed TF 904-family transmission, too!

Enjoy!
