washing cars is kinda gay.
Why do people clean their cars on a car show?
I thought I am at a housewife competiton when I first saw it in the US

:laughing4:.................. :rolling:........... :app:

I like a clean car as well, and try to keep mine as clean as I can. But that drives me ape **** when at the car shows, and all these tools are there wiping their car's down.

:busted: So what do you do? Get your wife to do it? Do the dirty deed behind a closed garage door? Or just sprinkle pixe dust? I wipe my car down at shows and couldn't give a rats *** what anyone thinks.

I just like clean cars, I don't show mine. I do the same thing with my truck.

If I were to show em though they'd be clean & I'd dust them at the show.

I'll wipe the car down to rid it of dust and dead bugs once I arrive.

I see arriving to the show, then getting the duster out, and dusting it off. But when these guys show up, pop the trunk, and pull every polisher/waxer/rag out they have... It just seem a little ridiculous... I'm there to check out your car, not to see you clean it.

I've been known to spend an hour at Carlisle cleaning the car

I've never entered a car in a judged show but I have buddies who do & they have to clean it like that if they hope to have any chance at a prize. So, my guess is that most of the guys you see detailing their cars at shows are there to compete, not just show.

To each his own.

Welcome back Dave.....

Did you just arrive to the show from the trip you took to get there? Or did you get to a hotel the day/night before?

In the morning I wipe it down before I leave the motel, a lot of dew in the Carlisle mountain air. I am not obsessive about it but I do want it clean. I do it more for the love of the car not the love of the show. I want people to look at a Polara, mine or not.

I also wipe it down after the highway trip... A lot of dead bugs and dust on the windshield and the nose of the car. I also have three others with me and finger prints are everywhere.
