1972 New Yorker quartz'clock

Hi everybody.

Is there a quartz clock available for a 1972 New Yorker or a kit that can be purchase to convert the original one to quartz?

There is a place that can fix your original or change it to quartz. I will look it up and see if I can find my old thread.

Here is the place I used, and it was recommend to me. The Clock Works

I went the route to fix the mechanical one. I never got mine to keep very good time. I would reset it every time I drove the car. It was working great until my voltage regulator went bad. It is on my list of things to do this winter. If I can't get it running by cleaning the points I will probably go ahead and convert to quartz this time around.

I had one repaired at the clockworks too. Been working great ever since.

I was told they don't offer a "kit" to do the clock in my 70, so any quartz conversion was going to have be a custom ($) service. Repair is usually cheaper anyway.

I like the "tick-tick" of the second hand, so it was an easy choice for me.

Back when 80s Grand Marquis were common sights in Junkyards, I did a few conversions using their (small, reliable) quartz clocks. I suppose a 2000s LHS or 300m might also be a good substitute. The hardest part was making the set mechanism work, so I didn't bother. I'd just reconnect the battery at whatever time it stopped.

Having said all that, I haven't wanted a working one in years... Just another slow drain on the battery of a car I don't drive very often.
