Hi All,

Could anybody help me because I need to replace and fix the glove box lock and I found several on Ebay, but I do not know which would be the original Chrysler PN# that I need to look for. I know, need to replace the glove box and trunk lock cilinder together, because of the same key. I found this:
Manufacturer Part Number 3586353

Is it the good PN for my car? I have already bought one set and the seller told it is fit to my car, but the glove box lock cilinder was longer than mine in the car.

Thanks
Istvan

What issues are you having with the glove box lock assy?

Usually, the assemblies have two pieces. The latch/case into which the inner key cylinder indexes with and locks into to make the complete assembly.

From the part number series, I would suspect the "35_____" number would have first been used on 1975 cars (Formal body), not 1972 cars (Fuselage body), which would have been "29_____" or "32_____" type numbers "29" for the first Fuselage cars in 1969 or "32" for a model-year specific glove box door, if it was different from the earlier models.

Many eBay sellers are getting their parts from "somewhere" themselves, rather than NOS items. Nor might they chase factory part number changes. You can download the factory parts books at www.mymopar.com . Personally, I would trust Rock Auto catalogs over an eBay seller's catalogs, unless they are working out of factory books. BTAIM

Just some thoughts,

The best thing to do is download the parts manual from Parts Manuals – MyMopar as @CBODY67 mentioned.

Regarding the keys matching, you can do a couple things. First is to take your trunk key to a locksmith with your glovebox lock and have them change the tumblers. That would be the preferred method.

You could also take the tumbler cover off the lock and dump out the tumblers and springs. Put the cover back on and now any key will fit it. No one but you will know that you can now open it with any key, but you can still "lock" it. I don't necessarily recommend doing that, but it does the job.

72 Parts book list, part # 3508887 but there are two different lengths, you would have to contact the seller to make sure their part is the same length as the one you have. One listed on E bay has the cylinder and the latch but it will cost you. Len Dawson has the best price but you would have to check with him to see if it's the same length.
