Surprisingly it has been repainted but otherwise, it looks like a gem for a lover of 72 New Yorker 4 doors...this looks darker than B5 blue so maybe the owner just wanted a darker blue.....?

Hello... Up for bid is a Beautiful 1973 Chrysler New Yorker Hardtop Sedan!! This car has 16,256 original miles and is in amazing condition. This car is the nicest one you will find anywhere!! Just out of long term ownership and it comes with original broadcast sheet and warranty card. It is equipped with its original #s matching 440CI V8 Big Block Engine that runs smooth and quiet. Engine is untouched and unmodified. Starts up excellent with no misses or issues. The TorqueFlite Automatic Transmission shifts excellent through all gears. The car still drives like new, handles the road excellent and rides very smooth. The whitewall tires have great tread remaining and brakes stop excellent. The car is beautiful and in excellent condition. It had one beautiful professional repaint to its original True Blue Metallic (73 version of B5 blue!) The body has no rot issues and is very straight. The body lines are all excellent. Paint shines like a mirror and looks great. The vinyl top has no rust under it and looks great. All of the glass is very nice with no cracks or fog. The chrome and trim is all original and bright. There is some very small minor blemishes noticeable up close but i dont think there is any nicer, i am picky and this car is just beautiful. Car was all factory zebarted. If you love old Mopars or have a nice car collection this car is the perfect addition you can enjoy with the whole family. The interior is also beautiful in matching blue. The seats have no rips or cracks, headliner looks great, dash has no cracks, carpet and door panels just have minimal wear. This car is fully loaded! It has factory air conditioning, power windows, power seat, dual climate control, cruise control, tilt steering, push button radio, power trunk, power steering, power brakes and chrome wheels! The a/c may need recharge or service. The underside is very solid. The trunk is original featuring its factory spare tire and jack which appears un-used. The engine compartment also looks all original and nice. This car gets a lot of attention and compliments everywhere it goes. This car is very rare - one of only 7,619 produced for the model year, how many left? Not many! and if there is they are not even close to this nice of condition!! New owner probably decided he couldn't deal with Autotemp II - it still has the original controller. Not a big problem though. Just another $800+ or so....

I am aware of some other guys who don't really like B5 blue all that much and that is why I proffered that the owner just wanted a darker, brighter blue. The firewall was not redone - that would have been a real pain.....................

That shade of intense blue strikes me the same way J4 green strikes me in terms of green shades - just clear standouts!

100% means nothing, seller has had problems in the past if you read through the feedback comments.

I do not believe that car has high miles - the underhood firewall area has not been repainted, the wiper motor finish is too original/nice and the underside of the car is too clean to be over 100K miles. Inspecting before buying is the best scenario or having someone put eyes on it.

No I think your wrong there, it is another well cared for high mileage car that has gone around and has been 'Doctored Up' to look low miles. This may have happened well back in it's lifetime say at 50k plus miles, who knows as we and many of these low mileage cars that are appearing as there is no certifiable documentation as to it's actual mileage.

First off it has quite a bit of oil leakage on the sway bar and this is not from a sloppy oil change as the 440 oil filter placement makes for a very clean removal, what is this leak and why? A 16k car shouldn't be leaking like this. My 1977 Plymouth Gran Fury PK41 car at 67+k miles had no such leakage but I'll take that to being well maintained by the state mechanics. It goes back to another recent 500+ mileage car that recently sold with the cheer-leading comment of 'congratulations this one belongs in a museum'.... No this one should look like it came out of a museum and it doesn't.
Also again it comes back to the statement of "This car was well loved and cared for " no it wasn't, fix the leak and fix the A/C.

Why was the underside over it's long lifetime doctored up with spray paint on the undercarriage? Typical detail shop work over the years? Or 'well if we can hide this rust and road grime we can pass this off as a low mileage car'? You would think that if this was a bonafide 16k mileage car you would touch nothing.
Look at the enlargement of the undercarriage picture, springs, rear shock mounts and frame painted black, but look at the brown areas where they missed the undercoating. The brown is a mixture of road dirt or grime, some will say 'no that's rust from not being stored in a climate controlled situation'. Ummm last I knew undercoating doesn't rust, they just missed spraying it or re-undercoating it, maybe this is good enough as buyers are just going to see what they can from getting down on their hands and knees. Also look closely at the rubber fuel line as the transition link from metal frame line to stub metal line, it's got brown road grime from high mileage, rubber don't rust and this at 16k miles should look like 'off the line or showroom'.

The car needs to be looked at in person on a lift by a qualified person that knows these car and actually worked on them back in the 70's/80's to look at all the nooks & crannies to determine actual mileage. With the sellers feed back comments of "INTENTIONAL MISREPRESENTATION. NOT ORIGINAL MILES. STEER CLEAR" I'll bet someone sight unseen other than web pic's once they got their purchase home and took it to someone that knows found out the car wasn't as represented.

That's why Mecum, BaT and others are putting disclaimers and wording their text in AD's about mileage and such, lawsuits can be made and won over false claims, and people with $$$$$$ do it.

But as you said, and I also said, an eyes on inspection by someone trusted is the best approach.

Great Color combo. I had a 73 NYB coupe in B5 with white top, white buckets, and a sunroof. Wish I still had that one......

Oh I forgot to scope out the underhood pad which is a very hard item to clean/detail so we go to the enlargement, I see roaching/rashing and plenty of brown/grey grunge embedded dirt from way more than 16 thousand miles. next,

The firewall was not redone - that would have been a real pain.....................

I don't know what pictures you are looking at but I see plenty of overspray on the starter relay, over on the ignition module, even looks like they sprayed around the valve covers as the ignition wires appear to have some overspray on them, then look at the wiring over the brake booster, ratty & dirty looking not a 16k car.

Here's a picture of a documented 4k showroom 1977 Plymouth Fury engine bay (wish we had more pictures of this car for a benchmark).

And the very big question would be why was a 16k mileage car painted? No reason given.

Beautiful car. wish I had known about it at the time. It is also a shame one with several options was not a Brougham and had split front bench seats.
