I like the grill too. Would have liked a center emblem that looks a little less like a Chevy emblem.

I do agree as well. My parents looked for a new can in '73, including the Chrysler and, of all things, a Caprice Convertible. I thought then the two grills looked similar.

So, what did they buy? A 4-door Maverick. Ack!!!!

I had a friend with a v8 3-on-the-tree comet, which was the Mercury version of Maverick at the time. Tony's car would fly! It was box stock with a 302 and it hauled ***.

Oh well, post deleted. I guess the Newport sold.

I would like to have a two-door Maverick or Comet, but in '73 when my folks passed on a Chrysler and a ragtop to buy a 4-door Maverick? No!!!!
