Nice lookin white parts car. The maroon on for sale could be put back on the road. I have a 3:23 axle if someone is still looking for one from a 74 imperial. My book shows 3:23 as an option. My 74 came factory with the higher 2.71 ratio

I'd be interested if its a suregrip. Where are you located?

Why not put a limited slip in the rear you have in place of the open.
You will know it's new, not a worn out original.
With the FSM to guide you and a cheap special tool, or you can make it, to set the preload and backlash it is a pretty straightforward job.

I'm in zip code 62045. It's not a sure grip . Open rear differential

Nuts, same as the white car. Thanks anyway man.

That is a last resort. I could certainly get away with it, but its not in the "spirit" of the rules. Pulling even a tired old suregrip out of a junkyard or the like is celebrated more than spending the coin on a new one. Even if finding it is less convenient. The new Mopar suregrips are expensive too!

FWIW I started a dialogue with the seller of the maroon 2 door... It pained me not to be able to step up for it, but the shipping would have cost as much as the car I have no need or room for... it was said to have had that white leather covered during its entire storage and was supposedly still soft... claimed to be without rust as well. The car sold locally for the seller, who seemed a reasonable sort... I am glad they got it sold before I talked myself into buying it.

I am hopeful it will be saved and maybe show up here someday... needed a lot of work, but so much potential...

Nothing wrong with a used sure grip. I put one in my car when I bought it as it was open. Reset the backlash and made my own tool to adjust the internal spanner nuts. Piece of cake. Always pulls with both rears now .

Is this '74 coupe still for sale in New Mexico?
No it was sold locally to someone who will hopefully save her. At least that was what the seller told me. Hopefully there isn't a big derby presence in NM.

Gents, I bought it. It now sits in a storage stall. I rebuilt the carb, runs sort of, new tires, new windshield in a box. When I get done messing with my 78, then I may get to this one.

The former seller seemed to be a good guy... judging by our correspondence. Was the interior as nice as he said it was? I would love to see better pictures if you have the time. Glad she found a good home.

The interior is not as nice as you are led to believe. Frankly, I only have the cover off drivers side, a little yellowing and are a little stiff. Radio was taken out of it, and the plastic around the radio opening is a little damaged, I have a rebuilt am/fm 8 track for it, windshield is cracked and I have a new windshield. The steering wheel needs to be repaired. So, someday this summer I will fire it up and pull it out of the storage and see what else it needs. I almost gassed my self when I put the rebuilt carb back on. Those 10 by 20 storage units don't leave you much ventilation when the car is backed in.

LOL, thanks for the condition report. Yep 10x20 and a 440 pumping CO would get you light headed fast. Dry leather might come back with some love, but it will suck if the foam starts to crumble. Almost all of these steering wheels need repair.
