1975 Imperial barn find Odd Trim tag 5 series

Job # no matter what year refers to something internal to Chrysler. A pilot car for something. Without the b'cast sheet it's a bigger guess. Definitely something special for the times.

When you google "5Y-M" "Imperial" several car facts sites pop up that use the code "5Y-M" for the 1975 Imperial. I think the first site to use this code was the German Wikipedia, from which it was copied by other sites.

I have no idea where they found this code, but you can easily see that it translates into '1975 Imperial LeBaron'.

Timely thread …. I just inquired about this 75 Lebaron Crown Coupe . Trying to arrange a time to look it over . 2nd owner car with 75k but has been sitting outside for a long time . Luckily it is shaded by trees in summer .

A case of triple pickle, perhaps? The steering wheel is also green.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'm still a little unsure of what each letter/number designation signifies. Still reading.
This appears to be how they arrange these designations.
They being wikipedia and just about all of the foreign sites.

The Imperial had an unusual distinction for 1981 and 1982 as it was offered with an optional special edition named after a celebrity. The Imperial fs was a rare example of automotive history, as it was one of only a handful of regular production cars bearing a celebrity's name. This limited edition Imperial was available only in Glacier Blue Crystal paint - Chrysler advertising claimed it matched the color of Sinatra's eyes - and had special "fs" (lowercase) external badging, with a large glovebox placard proclaiming "Frank Sinatra Signature Edition". Inside, 16 cassette tapes of Sinatra titles were presented in a specially made Mark Cross leather case which were stored in a special locking console below the dashboard.[62][63] 148 1981 and 279 1982 fs edition cars were manufactured and cost $1,078 ($3,027 in 2021 dollars [16]) above the normal sticker price of $20,988 ($58,933 in 2021 dollars [16]).[46][64][52]

For the years 1965-1972 the first lettter of the code is the same letter as those used for identifying the introduction year of a certain body color.

For instance, Chestnut Metallic was new for 1972. Its code on fender tags is HT8. The listed model code for the 1972 Imperial is HY-M.

There were a few Frank Sinatras around Boise . One was owned by a retired preacher that had at least 5 Imperials . He purchased them all new and just kept them instead of trading them off. 1958 - 82’s. The Sinatra still had the fuel injection I believe . Its been 20 years since I stopped and chatted with him .
I owned a 59 Crown Coupe in the 90s so they caught my attention .

Cuda hunter, I think the advice you received here is spot-on: $2500 as is for a dirt encrusted non runner. Is the interior fabric still soft and pliable or hard and ready to disintegrate...having a good interior for one of these is a huge factor.

As you said $4000-6000 for cleaned up runner...it all depends on how the clean up goes.

One of the reasons I like this site...solid advice.

All of this provided it's not gutted by rust underneath...I don't care how dry the climate is, earth floors always make me leery.

Promises to be a real stunning car in Starlight Blue.

That's pretty cool that you have seen some.
Would love to know which albums the 16 cassette tapes were.

Just to point it out, the floor is concrete. It just has as much dust on it as the car has.
I don't understand how someone has a huge garage and let's birds in it and leaves things open to the outside, even if it's only open a little.

The floor still has moisture coming up.... I realize it's dry out there. I keep plastic under my three cars which sit on concrete and every 2-3 years I get fresh plastic under them. You should see the moisture that has built up under the plastic! But this is Iowa, so just saying.

No real rust on the bottom of the car.

The fella won't sell the car for anything that I would agree on. His kids say the car is worth 8K and they can get that all day long to the "derby" crowd.
BS, but what do I know?
I told him to get his kids to buy some cars from me for 8K if that is what they are worth and I will go find them elsewhere for less and resale to him.
No dice. They would rather the money be high as that is what matters, not that I want to clean up the car and actually drive it.
Non mopar derby guys
The proceeded to tell me that they just put chevy 350's in the old mopars for the derby, but then told me that everybody want a mopar for the derby cause the 440 is such a good engine. But not for the derby. ugh.

I'm out.

They have a work around for that nowadays, Imperial only features…
Oh man ! That sucks . Would someone really spend 8k on a derby car ? If so I need to move fast on the one I found.
Still havent arranged a viewing but did stop and eyeball it through the fence again .
It has leather and a Mileage Miser pkg …

The family said they can make 15K to 20 K a year derbying if they actually win.
They spend a full year preparing a derby car for the derby with their "tricks" and "techniques".
