Dave, here's your formal!

Eyeball inspection may yield an excellent buy....

Being a 4 door it would have to be cheaper and need almost nothing, plus those stupid rear brakes.

Kind of takes away one of the beauties of owning a formal, excellent cheap parts on the brakes and suspension.

Only the 74 & 75 Imps had rear disc brakes. All of the rest of the Formals (Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler) from 74-78 had drum brakes.

Unfortunately.....you could have ATC II in any Formal 74-78.

There are days I look at my dash and want to rip everything out down to the firewall and do it right.
Modern A/C, controls, gauges, infotainment system (complete with 250,000 colors), mood lighting...
with easy access instrument panels and the dash covered in fine Corinthian leather... LOL.
Oh, and CUP HOLDERS!

Formal Imperials can always be converted to rear drum too,if the rear discs become un-sustainable. That's my plan if it ever comes to that...

I would think the proportional valve on the rear disc Formal Imp's would be another impossible part to find on the planet.

I haven't checked part numbers, but I think it's the same as "regular" C bodies. The other "odd ball piece" is the 50-50 Master cylinder to make sure the rear discs get enough fluid...Imperial only.

The 74/75 Imperial are the best braking cars I've ever driven.

I guess another thing about them is the brake pads are relatively small so carrying a extra set on a trip would not be a problem or a caliper rebuild kit also. Because I am sure the poor kid at Advance or AZ head would explode if you went in there asking for either of those for a 75 Imp.

The only hard to find rear disc stuff are the master, rotors, emergency brake shoes/ hardware kit. Rear calipers for the Imperial are the same as the front calipers for a Dodge Aspen/ 5th Ave, so pretty easy to find. Aspen front pads need some of the metal plate ground off to clear the rear rotor hat, can be done pretty easily with hand tools.

Now that is some info that is priceless thank you. Now I can use that to torture the poor kid at advance.
