I'm probably going to have close to that in my NYer whenever I get done with it. For me the difference is that I didn't have to take a loan out to buy it or make a payment on it. It may take years too. Oh well.

I thought the same thing. But, I bought my 69 Impala that was on consignment there and I negotiated the price down several K's after back and forth with seller. Kinda like a real estate purchase. Alot of countering, etc... That's the way I would approach another transaction with them. But, they never get 72-73 Imperials in their showrooms for some odd reason.

There is no doubt a clean and original car should bring a premium. How much is the question. On a very desirable car it will be quite a bit due to the supply and demand. If a clean original 69 Charger pops up it will bring big bucks. Lot's of people want them and they almost never appear. Clean low mileage Formals are actually pretty plentiful. I think Stan's bud Lash has half a dozen in his inventory. Some he's had for years with no sale. The fact is few people want a 4door smogged up 77 Newport at a reasonable price let alone 12 grand or more. I will admit I'd consider it for about half the asking price.

I have way more than that in my NYB and it is still far from being done.

I would say maybe $4500......maybe less after an eyeball inspection. There is rust under the vinyl and the undercarriage isn't as pristine as I would expect if the actual mileage is correct.

I tried purchasing vehicles thru one of these consignment places and ended-up so frustrated i just gave up. Overpriced cars, sellers unwilling to negotiate to a real price and dealing through the sales place as an intermediary. Both vehicles advertised with "all receipts" and sellers apparently expected to be payed for every penny they put into the car.

This Nupe is local to me and has been popping around for awhile.

#1 Was on CL by what was listed as (and probably was) the orig owner, prob a year ago, for 4500, then a price drop, then disappeared. I thought it looked like an honest car and worth the $$, but as a sedan kinda didn't want to pursue it (oh, and the garage is full anyway).

#2 It showed up FS at a house near me a few months ago (within a half-mile!) for 6500. Had the T-bars cranked down and looked absolutely stupid. The paint looked OK but was bordering on dull when looked at critically.
Tehn saw it on CL from that seller for 6500.
Then saw it at a car show for 7500 (wiggle-room on the price, perhaps).
Then it was back on CL claiming financial difficulties and first 3000 gets it.
Garage still full, it was still a sedan - and it didn't speak to me either time I saw it in person.
Checked a few days later and the listing was gone. My gut told me I'd see it again.

Back on CL a few weeks later, in a new town 30 min away, and has a new higher price (6000 IIRC?). Mentally wished the guy good luck on the flip and felt kinda sad, like seeing a puppy at the pound. That was prob a month ago?

#4 - now at Gateway, says brokering for local owner, who I presume would be the guy (or gal) from #3. And again, GLWTF!!!!

It is a decent car, but not pristine. The vinyl top tears we can see, but there is some bubblerust along the rockers, and it has some small bumps/bruises here/there down low. Gateway must've forgotten to look down there and take good photos.

As AzBlack said, lots of low-mi Formals around, I can think of 3-4 on CL here in the last 6 mos, and I never see any interesting C's around Indy anymore, this town is pretty dry.

Here is a decent one that has been on CL for awhile. If the green isn't a hurdle, this is prob a better purchase than that Nupe. It's certainly cheaper.

I'm selling my favorite Car. 1977 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham. Green exterior, Green Interior. Interior is 9.5/10. Exterior is 7.5/10. Just a little rust behind rear wheels and a couple dings, overall this car is in great shape. All original except for new white wall tires. 440 V8 Engine Runs and drives great. I'm sad I need to get rid of it but need the room in my garage. Asking $5,500 or best reasonable offer.

See post #9...... plus its a low optioned Sedan that has been flipped several times. It was offered for $3k not long ago.

I've have said many times before that pictures of Formal's can hide a lot of problems and be very deceiving. Those vinyl problems appear to be minor but believe me....once you get the vinyl off and start inspecting the area around the rear window, above the windshield, and below the C-pillar you will find that it will need metal repair. Not to mention the usual rusted out rear quarters under the rear marker lights and under the sill plates and behind the chrome trim strip under the doors. Formal's require eyeball inspections to get a true picture of the real condition.

Why would anyone even consider buying a car from Gateway with only a 79.1% Positive feedback, I kind of wonder why they are still on eekBay. Guess it's because all they're ad's are of the classified nature. $$$
Read through their feedback, most of the positive's are of the ole penny positive nature which I (think) is banned on eekBay now. Even some of the positive is negative in the comment (scared to leave a neg syndrome).
Also Google for the negative reviews of this place. For a 'High Dollar' Classic Car dealership they have a very well known poor reputation.

They buy at a steal price thinking they'll easily quadruple their investment and when it sits on their lizard lot forever they'll take it to the dealer auction and dump it.

Yes, I almost bought this exact car about 2 1/2 years ago but, decided against it at the time. I drove the car and looked at it. When I drove it had a little over 20k miles on it. The other thing is that the car still had its Lean Burn at the time. What fury fan says is accurate. The lower surface of the car had some surface rust and the car wasn't perfect. I can tell you the tail light was replaced from another car. The guy who I was going to buy the car from was on the near I-74 south of Indy. He had the car priced at $3995 for quite some time and then he sold it mid 2015 I believe for $3,500.

So, earlier in the year I recognize the car and it was for sale out of the Carmel, Indiana area for $3k due to financial difficulties. I bet the current seller paid a little less than that! After that it disappeared for a month or two then it reappears on CL again in Lebanon, Indiana for $6k and sat on CL for months since earlier this year. Just a month or so ago it disappears again and today I see it on Gateway Cars for double the asking price of what was on CL from a couple months ago and 4 times what the it was sold for earlier in the spring/summer of this year!

There is a lot of rust on the lower rear 1/4 panel. This car is being flipped and I could of swore I saw it for sale locally in Anderson, Indiana when I've gone their for medical appointments but, never had time to stop until it was already gone.
