Up for auction is a an original ex-Colorado State Patrol Police car.
This is 1977 Plymouth Grand Fury with a Special Order 440 plant with a 4 barrel carb, reinforced frame and a HD 727 transmission & transmission cooler.

This car was purchased from the Colorado State Patrol in about 1981 and parked where it remained in the same place since 1981. The car is in original condition, it has not been clean or or otherwise tampered with. The engine turns over. It's got minor denting down the driver side, flat tires broken front windshield. And if your a Police Car aficionado you probably understand this is a rare car as are all original 1970s Police Cars.

The car has all of the heavy duty police package options and specifications expected with a special order package. Dual exhaust, 85 amp alternator, heavy duty brakes, 3.23 posi-traction 9.25 rear axle, 7” steel rims with dog dish hub caps, antiroll bar, dual snorkel air cleaner. The police package also includes rubber flooring, 140 MPH “certified” speedometer, dual oil & temp gauge, single key option (ignition, doors & trunk) hand throttle, prisoner rear door locks, driver and passenger A-pillar mounted spotlight lights

I would get it running and driving the way it is. Leave it look like a blast from the past. Another one of many barn finds!

This car has been sitting out since 1981. Not showing much exterior rust as it has probably sat in a high desert area (note Rockies in the background). So far so good. Cruisers with rubber floor mats trap a lot of moisture under the mats and that will usually mean the floors are rotten. No way no tell without getting eyes on the car. Headliner is rust stained, may have leaked from light bar mounts. Brakes, tires and fuel system are junk. Would also want to check the block for freeze cracks as it gets very cold in high desert areas. Exhaust is likely rotted out from sitting on the dirt. Fixing all that to get it road worthy is going to run into big bucks, probably $3.5k at least, and it will still be a beater with about $7.5k into it. Do not see a lot of potential here.

Yep, if it was straight, clean & running it would be worth 3 grand today then;
If you pay for the work to be done to make it roadworthy & safe for the road (windshield) spend another 5 grand, less if you do the work yourself.
Then there is the paint & interior work to be done, you should know.

I know I owned 2 back when this car was only 4/5 years old. (plus a 1976 parts car)
