A little advice from someone who knows ..

My friend has a complete set of FOUR of these wheels from a 1979 Chrysler 300 (B-body).

I am going to lhelp him sell them. I am not on FBBO and not planning to join, but I know some of you are. I haven't seen any on Ebay for a while as a complete set either.

Any idea what these go for?

A pic of one is below (the others are still mounted. He no longer has the car). All four are comparable to this one. 15x6, 5x4.5, 4 inch backspacing. Made of Aluminum

All the trim rings, caps, and mounting brackets are there. A couple of the rings are cleanly cracked (would hardly show) but you need the clips (easily improvised with flat washers). The cap centers have a little fading.

Most of us know the car .. a few have passed through here.

He also has FOUR of these caps (just the caps) , same size as the 300 caps ... anybody know what they go on?

Those rims were optional on R bodies in 79. The non-300 caps go with those rims if you optioned that rim with a non-300 R body.

I would be interested in the non 300 caps - have a set of these turbines they would work on

ok.. they are yours to take or pass on first. :)

when i pick up the rest of his stuff next week, i will post some pics of all four, send ya a PM for what he's asking, and see what can be worked out :).

I am constantly surprised on where else the 16 slot wheel shows up besides on Road Wheels.
Since it was '79 and the wider 16 slot had come into use, I wonder if they were trying to use up the remaining supply of 6".

Yup, Magnums were part of the R body line in 79. (New Yorker, Newport, Cordoba, St Regis, Magnum).

The coupes remained B-bodies. 114.9 vs. 118.5" wheelbase. On an R-body, those wheels were part of the "open road" package (otherwise known as all the police package goodies). Somebody on another forum had a '79 5th Ave with E-58 360, sunroof and handling pkg. Delicious.

Yup, I get it, however, the Coupes were also designated R body by Chrysler...another "badge engineering" thing brought to us by Chrysler Corporation. Technically speaking there were no B bodies in Chrysler's eyes in 79. As well I'm surprised at the number of differences between the 78 and 79 Cordoba/ Magnums under the skin (heater cores etc).

Anybody wanna give me price guidance? What seems fair for wheel/trim/cap combo for the 300's?

I don't think they come up for sale often enough to give a valuation. I might be interested, but my value would only be as a rather narrowish aluminum rim that I could (maybe) install a factory wheelcover upon.
