1979 Chrysler New Yorker

What is mpg in one of those.......that changes my opinion pretty quick.

Lower than 0-60 I guess.:laughing4:

Numerically higher then. Thinking of liters/100km. :)

I remember the first time I got a gas ration card in Germany.......I thought I had access to a lot of gas. Until I figured out it was in liters.......then I wondered how the heck I was going to make it last from month to month. I'm not paying DM prices for gas. LOL!!!

I loved the DM prices compared to today's EURO prices.
Rationing of liquor seems to have been more comforting I guess as I know a brother of a friend made a nice side income with selling it off to Germans - until the tax agents grabbed him, bad luck as he was German NATO

Yep, the locals were always asking for American cigarettes ($1.99 a carton for GI's back then) and Jim Beam. I was a Jack Daniels and beer guy back then. The German ladies LOVED American ice cream and chocolate. I use to to do candlelight dinners with steak on the grill, ice cream and I would throw some M&M's on it. The ladies loved it and me too!!! LOL!!!

Did you bring them silk stockings, too??

No, that was 1940's thing. American cigarettes, Jim Beam, and ice cream. Of course I would never partake in any black market activity...........ending up in Mannheim Prison wasn't an option for me.

I drive by that prison every once in a while. I guess it still looks the same as back then, no idea if it is still in operation.

Yes, it is still operational! I've taken prisoners there many times while I was stationed in Germany. It's not a nice place!

so is Manheim in total

I enjoyed going to the nearby castle in Ludwigsburg.

Looks pretty run down even from the outside.

The military budget has been slashed badly. The inside looks like new money!!!! LOL!!!

Last year I drove both my '79 NY'r(360) and the '78 NYB(440) to work etc all summer. With 91 Octane non ethanyl Premium. The '78 got 14 m.p.g. and the '79 got 19 m.p.g. That is for both when driving conservatively. Thats 26.3% better. I still prefer the '78 over the '79 but I can still have fun driving a relatively "Old" car that still is extrememly clean and does get noticed. Like I say: "Its not the newest but what I own is taken care of".

Does your 78 still have Lean Burn or has it been converted?
