The stripes are factory as I did own one. The car should have wheel flares on it but they do warp with age and maybe removed? The rear side window louver is the 1978 style so it is worth the call but alot of questions for me.

Yes, but the flares should be color keyed and the GT stripes are aftermarket or even look homemade. Mine was dark blue t-top car with the Police Package 360 motor and suspension. I traded it in 1982 for a 1967 Satellite w/hemi. Both are long gone now. The rare Magnums are the GT's w/police pkg.

So basically , he didn't ruin it.
The stripes was a factory package.
The T-roof was, of course, a factory option.
The wheel flares were probably removed.
The C-piller Opera Window trim is from a different year.
Looks stock to me. Just a little tired, that's all.

Mr. Pete, what I meant was I don't believe this particular car is a true GT and that the GT stripe was added to this car, not factory applied. Yes wheel flares were part of the package and warping was a problem. Also, GT badging is missing, perhaps removed? Wheels do not look like correct GT wheels either. What I meant was the fender tag would tell us if it was a "true GT".
I did own one as well, bought it brand new and drove it for 199,200 some odd miles before temporarily losing my mind and giving it away. Still have nightmares about that. Luckily, I do still have some good memories that I kept.

Yeah, NOS ones are probably almost impossible to find let alone afford. I've seen used ones for sale but without a close up inspection you are taking a big chance on them. They have an internal steel frame that the rubber flare is molded on to. That steel frame tends to rust and cause the warping that Mr. Pete referred to in his post.

Don't confuse the two pictures, they are two different cars. The wheels on the first car could be original but not painted the correct silver/black metal flake color. Without seeing the build tag the biggest giveaway that this is NOT an original GT is the interior pics show wood grain dash trim not engine turned (GT only).

Umm collectibility yes financially no....taking a 50% pay cut this year due to the idiots who run this province has seriously hampered my buying enthusiasm
