I had the enjoyment of seeing one on the road about 2 weeks ago...it looked like a Frank, but I can't be positive as I was in traffic and couldn't gawk too much....haven't seen one in years. Quite the head turner.

Interesting thing is that they look better now than back then when everybody confused them with Miradas.

I like them.....carb converted cars doesn't scare me.

Seen one a few years ago at Moparfest. Excuse the thumb! Imperials and granpas oliver 001.jpg

Ok here is a little more info. A total of a little over 12,000 were built not 17,000 as stated above. For 1981 there were 331 cars built in Light Seaspray Green and it was the only year that color was available. As for the "Sinatra" blue, it was called Glacier Blue and could be had on a non "Sinatra" car. My '82 was this color. Also, here is a link to show that the asterik meant that the dash cluster was replaced...not "reflashed". Hope this clears up some misunderstandings. http://www.imperialclub.com/Yr/1981/81-83-Changes/Page06-reg.jpg It is at the bottom of the page.

I remember your blue 82.......... parked next to you at the Dodge dealer on rt 30 at a show, amongst other places.

Why did you sell her?

Hey Dave, I sold it to Mike "Dartomotive" from the Misfits. Combination of things as to why I sold it....was not being used much, needed some extra cash at the time and no one else in the household wanted to drive it. It was supposed to be a spare in case one of the daily drivers went down. It was eventually replaced with a 1993 Eagle Vision TSi that was garage kept its' entire life. Has 99,000 and change on it. Not as neat as the Imp but at least everyone will/has driven it. If the right situation ever arose I WOULD absolutely by another Imp. Would like an '83 as only just under 1600 were made. On a side note Dave...if you ever want to check out the 4-speed car give me a shout and come on down.

If you are talking about the darker brown, it was called Mahogany. 3rd most popular color over the '81-'83 production span.

1965 Dodge Monaco 426W 4-speed. Pic in my info to the left shows the shifter. Real deal car with info from Chrysler Historical.

Very interesting thread with a lot of great info, thanks gents. I'd take a Mirada CMX, thank you.
