2005-08 Dodge Magnum Wagon - Anyone with Experience?

The guy I talked to had a entry level with the 2.7 motor and got 16-18 mpg. Heck my '04 GTO will get 25 mpg with the 6 speed. I would check other owners comments in Kbb.com or was it Edmunds, com. You can learn alot of information and if it appears to be a problem in general.

One ah them 27 Magnum'z on Eval-Bay rite now iz ah White '08, NO HOLE IN THE ROOF with ah bad 2.7L and ah Cherry body sitting in Maryland. Less then ah day left on the auction and still under 1K the last time I looked. No big deal to find ah roll over RT and I've got the 5.7L. the under hood harness for chump change. Rebuild the trans. (Same bell housing I checked) and ah few other oddz 'n endz and PRESTO, 10-15 more yeraz of drivin' fun. Am I the only one who'z wired like this? And White hidez bangz and dirt. WIN WIN fer us ole guyz that are past that waxin' our lug nut stage in life.

I've got to stick with turn-key if I ever want to get my vert on the road. I need the wife on board for this purchase and she wants red, who am I to complain?:love7:

As others said they have front end problems, I have seen mostly lower ball joints on these. The trans should be the NAG1. Not many problems, about every one leaks at the pass through connector at the right front, updated connector bushing is available. Same trans in jeeps and had one valve body issue but that's all. hope this helps and good luck in your search

My trans guy says the Nag1 is a great trans and if he sees one it usually has a dumb *** owner driver connected to it.

Thats the one I want! Looking at one just like it today.

Good info, I didn't know what kind of trans it would end up with. Front end issues you speak of would explain why some look like they have been lowered.

Ok, checked one out yesterday, but ended up passing on it. 2007 R/T with 86,000 on the clock, $10,991. Clean for the most part, but there were some issues: 2 hits in the front end, one repair obvious, the other I couldn't tell visually, even after finding out from the carfax; Carfax also revealed the car was repossessed once; drivers door clicked loudly on opening and closing; front-end made a clunking noise each time I tapped the brakes; steering "buzzed" when I turned the wheel (not your typical "belt" noise); rear bumper cover was loose; one tail light was filled with condensation; rear tires had seen more than their share of smoky burnouts; and the leather drivers seat was in bad shape. Some are minor, cosmetic, typical of a used car, but with two hits and the repro report made me think twice. That, and the dealer price was non-negotiable. With a dozen R/T's to choose from in my area ranging from $7k to 13K, I thought this one was priced high, so I offered $8500 and then was shown the door, no counter offer. My offer shaved only 23%, usually my first hit on anything is a solid 25%. I fully expected a counter offer of $9800 which would have at least paid the taxes and tags. What do you think, was I out of line? What's with dealers that don't haggle price?

I have 65000 miles on this car and not any problems at all (except that my wife scares the crap out of me when she drives it).
Early models may have had a few issues here and there, but mine has been great. Only thing I would trade this for would be for an SRT Magnum.

What grade fuel do you run?

I can say with mine I run 93 but I also run a tuner that advances the timing a wee bit. 91 is a minimum with the tune. Best mileage I've ever seen was 31mpg from Baltimore county to MD eastern shore. At night, no traffic, cruise set almost the entire way.

On my runs from CT to DC I usually can do it just over a single tank of gas (round trip). I've done it in one but it was fumes getting off the highway. Overall it's 23mpg, cruising at about 80 the entire length of the NJ turnpike. Higher when I don't factor in NYC (GWB) traffic.

Being the cheap old man that I am, could I get away with regular, or is that just a wast of time?

I think 89 is recommended by the factory. It's when you start screwing with stuff that the pinging starts. I can say I've run a couple tanks of 87 from time to time. Mileage sucks with 87 as HAL feeds it more fuel to satisfy the knock sensors.
