Thankz Catnip. See that little out cropping of land in the RED ZONE IN N. C.? THAT'Z WHERE MY PONDEROSA IZ IN WILMINGTON. Back side of my screened in porch still ain't been fixed from what Florence did to it last September and here we go again. - It is tied for second with the highest wind speed of any hurricane anywhere in the Atlantic in the modern era since 1950 (It is tied with Wilma in 2005, Gilbert in 1988 and just behind Allan in 1980 that had 190 mph winds)
- Dorian’s landfall in the Bahamas at 185 mph is stronger than Hurricane Irma’s landfalls in Barbuda, St. Martin and the British Virgin Islands in 2017 (which was 180 mph).
- Hurricane Dorian rapidly intensified yet again today, increasing 35 mph in less than 8 hours between 5 a.m. ET (150 mph) and 12:45 p.m. ET (185 mph). Rapid Intensification of a hurricane is when its top wind speeds increase by 35 mph or more in 24 hours or less.

Let me guess, I'll bet the station is owned/operated by some of our new 'diverse' residents.
Anyone with common sense would run right out there and put a stop to this.
Ever see the aftermath of the fuel tanker fire in India or Pakistan where the poor underclass flock to scoop up the spilt fuel and something sets off the puddles of fuel.
Seriously, in any other state than Floriduh I think this is a arrestable offence an I go back to my teenage years where in the shop I was working in at 15 years old we got the new OSHA Safety Gas Cans with the can't keep open snap shut spring loaded caps and the attached yellow funnel. Took awhile to get use to them, but I can see why as we learned when the prob'ee fireman from the warehouse threw a pack of firecrackers in the open shop garage door as a joke on a slow summers day.

No kidding. Another group of dumb selfish self centered jerks buying enough gas for the next month as if they were going to be able to drive anywhere if it was a direct hit.
My buddy came up from Ft Myers yesterday afternoon, we went out for a drive in his company rental. Light Sunday evening traffic, nice dinner, refilled the rental and bought ice and beer with little drama. There were some empty aisles in Publix, the most noticeable was the TP section... a lot of wiped bottoms in Orlando's future. This really makes me wonder what folks would pack in their "go bag" if they had to hit the road.
I've met a lot of young men from various parts of the Bahamas over the years, generally speaking, they were good guys. I look at Dorian and that storm is a monster, I feel for anyone with friends or family out there. The folks on the island better be in very good shelter for all of this beating they've been taking. The worst I saw on NOAA last night was 185MPH sustained, 220MPH gusts and as much as 23 ft surge above high tide.
Currently 165MPH sustained, 200MPH gusts, up to 23 ft surge and moving at 1MPH... basically just sitting on them.

Jer... I hope you don't get hit too hard by this one... I know you don't need the excitement. You were one of the first I worried about as the track has continued to evolve. Right now, I wonder what @bulldogchesty has planned, I think he may be the first of our members to have problems from this storm.
