Ahhh yes, I'm familiar with the car (aren't we all?). Outstanding. Thanks gents!

And now I know who Trevor is (Pursuit), who was already good enough to answer a question for me. FCBO is a damn fine forum. No squids like on my Ducati and Honda RC51 forums.

And again, I want to thank John for putting up with me for almost 2 hours with my pestering questions in the hot sun! :thankyou:

Not a big Moto guy, but I've always liked Ducati motorcycles, maybe it was because they didn't need to round the engine size to a round number. And the open framework they didn't try to hide, just leave it raw and show the frame in all its Glory.

Isn't that a clone convertible, or is it the true "shifter handle" car?

The “300/H” that you posted is a clone, tribute, reproduction, fakie-do, bogus car...whatever.

It’s cool to look at, but there are about 10 details that are obvious, that make it easy to identify as a reproduction/fake.

I hope the owner identifies it as a tribute.

Cool car for sure, it’s just not real!

TrevorFury,

Thank you for that explanation, and I'm sure it's interesting news to a lot of people here. I take it that "your car" was not at the SEMA thing? Wait....sorry...you said that. The SEMA car is a clone. I simply don't get that concept. Why do it? Fame? Fortune? Embarrassment?

Here's the problem, and although I've been chastised by FCBO from mentioning a certain GM sports car, the same problem exists: Provenance. It's amazing how many people own a Big Tank Fuelie once raced by......Zora.

Here is the another ''real one''.:poke::poke: Once I get it on the road, hoping for next spring fling I,ll let all the ''experts'' tell me what it is. :BangHead:

This is one of the reasons I get email after email telling me that there are 3 or 4 convertibles built and “they know” because “we saw one last weekend at a car show”,....okay,...you saw one of the approximately 6 clone/fakes made since 1973...

Cool car for sure, it’s just not real!

Now I'm confused....

This car isn't Trev's car... Correct? No front bumper guard is the tip off for me.

But it's also not Dan Sculley's car... Correct? Again.. Front bumper guard AND large cornering lights rather than smaller side markers.

Do I have this right?

The one, and only one!

The real 300/H convertible, George Hurst's personal favorite car.

I'm pretty sure the the first "copy/clone" photo is the "Vegas" car. It's a known fake.

There is a second car on the East Coast that I'm pretty sure Bruce Naiomi (sp) from Canada built in the early 90's. Cool cars, but they are all incorrect. The first indicator is the color on the clones/copies are incorrect.

I think I counted 6 or 7 "Hurst Convertibles" all fakes/clones in the last 30 years,...only one owner tried to sell his car as the original Hurst Convertible, it clearly wasn't original.

sorry all, i just mistakenly assumed it was the one only car that was getting so much fanfare. just didn't pay close attention.
