I saw some pictures of air cleaner decals that showed "318 Four-Barrel"
Did Chrysler make these? if so, when?

That decal is an aftermarket decal patterned after the originals for other engines, and reproductions based on the original versions. Originally used in 1973-1974 on 340 (73), 360 high performance (74), 400 high performance, and 440 high performance. Except for earlier export versions, the 318 LA engine was first equipped with a four barrel in 1978, but did not have that decal.

The reproductions are popularly used on other year models. I've used them myself on several 360, 400, and 440 vehicles. Here's a couple on my Newport 360, and Fury 400:

Edit: The 1958-1963 318 A engine (Poly) could be equipped with a four barrel carburetor, but did not use the decal either.

That's what I expected, why would they put a cool-guy decal on a 318. Although when I'm done tweaking on my 318, I'll probably find one of those decals. Nice finishing touch.

The call out decal was not an original Chrysler Corp thing.

The 318 4 bbl was made by Chrysler Corp...engine code E46. As mentioned it started out in the late 70's as an option. Often seen in M bodies.

Easy to take an existing decal and change the displacement numbers,

On the later LA318s, the "four barrel" was an emissions-version Thermo-Quad. Initially many were for "High-Altitude Emissions", but were expanded in later years.

Rather than to brag about a 318 4bbl, might it be better to let everybody think it's a 360?

Interesting information... thank you.
I don't mind being an "imposter" with a tweaked 318, but I don't want to get caught telling folks it's a 360. I might get chased out of the cars and coffee for that sort of thing. ;)

318 4vs were also available in 1978 to 1982 on cordobas & 80 to 82 dodge miradas ( ive had several) as well as the downsized 79 to 81 st regis, new yorker etc
