Finally getting around to assembling the rebuild 383 for my 67 Fury III.
thought i'd replace the pushrods as well.
turns out the set i bought on-line (COMP brand) do not have oil holes in them...
thought that's odd - since the stock rocker arms have a hole for the oil to trickle back down into the pan....

searching the interweb - so far - not able to locate any pushrods with holes in each end....

sadly - can't put my hands on the ones we pulled out (been a year since we tore it down and have 3 rebuild projects going on at the same time...

thoughts?

many thanks, pappy

No they don't and their not suppose to have them. Oiling comes through the rocker shafts so make sure you have the galley holes turned the right way or you'll get nothing to the rockers. Spin the oil pump after assembly and make sure you get oil to the top end - if not then the oil ports are upside down.

Make sure you rotate the engine also. The oil comes through one of the cam bearings. If it not lined up with the passage through the block you won't get oil up to the rockers.

thanks for the responses... and DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went back to the Motors Manual for 1967 - and the oil flow thru the engine. (guess i've worked on too many GM cars lately)

Also - did discover the original pushrods - in the trunk... sheesh - what a strange place to put them .
Did in sure the rocker arms have clear passage for the oil flow..
THANKS!!!!

There is also a correct way to install the rocker shafts so that the oil passage all line up and if you're not aware they're easily installed wrong.
