I have a lead on a used 440 and 727 from the late 70's. My Fury has a 318 at present.

Could someone provide about details the differences between the frame mounts for the 440 vs. for the 318?

If I go forward with this I would have to cut out the old 318 mounts and weld in new 440 mounts.

Let me know,

Thanks

Actually all you need are factory B/RB engine brackets/mounts from '66-'73 For a C-body or '66 -'72 for a B-body.

You will also need a shorter z-bar link for your column shifter and also will need to get a shorter driveshaft, or shorten yours... I believe 4", also replace the slider with one for a 727....

Nice plan. Keep posted with progress pictures. Sounds like a fun build!!!

I thought we've been through this recently....

Putting my frame now in the tub.

Are at least two members positively, absolutely, 100% sure - each with three types of documentation and a photo I.D. to back it up?

Does a bear $hit in the woods?

Would it be difficult to shove a wet noodle up a wild cat's a$$?

I'm going to look at a 440 and 727 on Saturday. If they look good I will pick them up. The motor comes with all accessories and the tranny has all the linkages.

Well, all this stupid rain has pushed back my pickup of the 440/727. I should be able to get it next weekend. This has been a cool wet May/June.

Look at what I brought home on Saturday

Here it is. From a 70 New Yorker. Came with all accessories and the 727 tranny. It was a heavy, heavy beast to lift and get on my engine stand.

I have already started pulling off the exhaust manifolds, fan and alternator.
