It looks more like a complete restoration rather than an "original" . Nothing with 47K miles on it will look that good especially under the hood. And I have to ask why it wasn't ordered as a Custom Royal Lancer rather than a bottom of the line Coronet when it has the padded dash option, almost non-existent on a Coronet, much less the optional exhaust tips. Also, the steering wheel was a Custom Royal one only with that two tone application and a Custom Royal horn ring. I am skeptical of the claims and rather believe it has been restored with some options added to the original in the process to enhance the appeal of the car.

Could it have been ordered that way?

Perhaps everything but the horn ring, but it makes no sense to add all that stuff when ordering rather than just get an upscale Custom Royal in the first place. I was only 10 years old at the time, so I would have to scour the catalogs to determine the options for sure.

I used to own this car. I purchased the car from a prominent collector that specialized in forward look cars. I am a Dentist by trade and VERY fussy. The car was repainted many years ago in its original colors. The car then led a charmed life with proper maintenance and storage. I added the correct exhaust tips (expensive!) and the clear seat covers. I personally detailed the engine. As I said I am VERY fussy! By the way the miles are actual miles on this car and it is an original panel car with absolutely no rust having been born and raised in California. Note the original California license plate frame on the rear of this car.

That sounds good enough for me!
I wish my computer could pull up the complete Listing though.

I own 6 ,57's. (9 FL's in total) 4 of them being D500's..looking the car over...the only option I would doubt that was factory ordered is the exhaust tips...being a 2bbl 325 base "Red Ram" engine this car came with a single exhaust system when new.....I have a 57 Coronet 2dr ht that also came with the 2 tone steering wheel ( advertised as The "plastic wheel")..mine too has the padded dash,..including the clock..Sport tone interior as this car also has ..but mine has the D500 engine...with no exhaust deflectors!...I bought mine this last April with just 50k on the clock 1 previous owner (I bought it from his estate)
