58 Imperial I'm looking to buy (help on the Value)

Just spoke with the seller again. He mentioned that there is some rodent damage. He said that some of the electrical wires were chewed in the engine compartment but that they did not get into the interior. I will have some photos of it and the under carriage in the next 2-3 days.

Thanks for all the input. I will need to see how extensive the electrical damage is.

I mentioned to him that the range on Hemmings Motors is between 3400-3,800 for a South Hampton or a crown. It didn't seem to phase him. I'm thinking he needs to get rid of it because he is paying for a storage unit and has been for 3 years. I'm hoping he will sell for around this price or might just be a little out of my range at this time if it's higher.

I hope the seller isn't watching this thread for nicks sake the way you guys are pumping up the price.
Appreciate it. If he is.....that's okay. I'm looking to make a fair and honest buy. If he is looking for more than I can afford, then that's just what will be. I do like the enthusiasm from the club. Nice to know that others feel the same way as I do.

Absolutely. The thrill of spending other people's money. Our prime mission actually. lol
Nice! I could set up a 'go fund me' account. Everyone is invited to contribute and advise....then....after the prime mission is complete..... i will hold on to the cars so that no one else has to have that burden . :) rotflmao

What advice would you all give when I look at it in person? Is there any particular place or things I should look at on the car?

Agreed. I like it. I'm just wondering if I'm taking on a bigger job than I have time and the $ to do.

We all have the same wonder at one point or another. . .

One thing I would add to the excellent tips previously stated on getting the car running: When you hit the starter to get oil pressure up, before you allow it to fire, do it with all the plugs removed. This will allow the engine to turn over faster with less strain, and it will get oil pressure up more quickly.

As regards things to look for when you inspect the car, you want to check everywhere for any rust and also check out the mouse problem. If mice ate into the wiring, they for sure ate into other parts of the car too. They could be living in the heater box, glove compartment or under the back seat. Mouse piss is really hard to eliminate with out a lot of work.

Great condition for a car of this decade. Wonder if there's still the original wicker like Cloth interior under the Vinyl and what the condition is.

No matter what you decide on, indoor storage should be considered a must to preserve this great survivor. I wonder how well it will clean up; I'd probably leave the supposedly first paint and interior untouched and go for some detailing. Steve would rather give it the full Treatment I guess.

I hope the original cloth is under the seat covers. That would ne awsome!
If I buy her, I will see what some clean up can do to her.
