66 monaco lower door hinge(door won't stay open)

Not sure what topic to post this under, please move if necessary

The passenger door on my 66 monaco convertible will not stay open. In the attached pics of the lower hinge you will notice the spring is not attached, it keeps coming unclipped from the lever. the lever moves freely and because the lack of tension the spring just won't stay on.
I reattached the spring and it made no difference. I can see that the roller is still in place. Is there anything missing? broken? or adjustments? I looked in the shop manual and don't see anything on this. the only thing i found in the manual is door diagram and is not detailed enough to show the components of the hinge.

The spring isnt hooked up properly. They are a pain in the butt to install once disturbed or removed.
 
I've got the "auto closing " doors on my 67 fury. Very annoying when I'm working on it!
