I remember driving a 5-speed for the first time when I was 16. I'd learned to drive a 4-speed (VW Bug) and a 3-on-the-tree (Ford Falcon Van), and I had a hard time with the five-speed at first. So I can totally imagine some guy in his mid-50s being curmudgeonly over extra gears he didn't need.

C-bodies, Will. I know about the pre-C's.

The Hurst 3 speed won't work and Sparkomatic has been out of business for over 30 years.
Evidently there is no place on the tranny case where a shifter can mount to.

You didn't say anything about C bodys ..... Stan ......... :poke:

very interesting. I fancy myself a cbody 4 speed freak. I have seen 65,67,68 Chrysler 4 speeds and a 69 300 3 speed convert.
But never a 66 Chrysler 4 speed. I always wondered why? He may be right, that they couldn't mount correctly and thats why I never saw one! Has anyone ever seen a 66 Chrysler 4 speed? Im not talking about Polaras,Monacos,Fury's, etc, just Chrysler
Thoughts?

Tom, what I was saying was I never saw a 3 speed C-body converted to a 3 speed floor shift.

Although it doesn't look like an Inland unit.

So they do exist...... Tell me pease, why would you want / order a 3 speed over the four?

Mostly, for the same reason a lot of people wouldn't fork out the extra 10 Dollars for two speed wipers. My grandpa was one of those people who wouldn't pay extra. The only way he got options was if he could get the dealer to throw something in to sweeten the deal.

You guys still remember the camshaft or vacuum driven wipers. Variable wiper speed through the gas throttle. ;)
