'67 -'68 Polara, Monaco,500, Show me your rear (trunk wire harness)

I'll attach a picture of the routing of the side marker light on my 68 Monaco 500. I'm not sure how much use it will be though. The harness was spliced and re-taped years ago to accommodate trailer wiring. This changed the shape and position of the wiringView attachment 222345

Thanks for the picture. It’s not a problem to have the splices and re routing. My key interest is in the metal tab placement that holds the loom in place across the back trunk filler panel as well as the exit point of the license plate light.

I have a few more pictures. May not be much benefit as I can't help you out much with the metal tab placement. The wiring has been changed over the years to accommodate aftermarket sequential lights. Maybe the plastic tabs are in the same placement as original metal tabs? The original plate wiring looks to have been fed behind the light panel and exited out below and to the left of the filler

Does anyone have this wire harness clip still attached and routed with their trunk harness? I believe it is a wire strap for the trunk light. I had it in a bag labeled “ tail light wheelhouse clip- trunk” if I recall correctly it attached some how to the wheelhouse to contain the trunk light wire, but am not 100%. I believe it used black tape I am not sure if it was the cloth tape, vinyl harness wrap or regular sticky electrical tape.
Help is appreciated.

No, this great, but adds to the mystery. The base Polara has different lights than the 500. But I think that could be what I was looking for. Thanks

Do you happen to have the little plastic retainer that holds the trunk light harness? If so I would greatly appreciate a picture of how and where it attaches.

Maybe I have been thinking about this all wrong. I have been thinking that the light harness was routed inside the trunk, but after @Sam392 pictures inside the tail light panel may have been the proper way. That gives reason for the little round holes on either end and why I couldn’t find the exit for the license plate light. Dummy me, when I looked at the holes I thought there was no way to thread the harness and bulb sockets through. I then remembered there was a connector right there. Guess what the hole is perfect size to fit the connector through. It also explains why there were no tabs.

Well, well. Guess I should stop guessing what’s similar between a 67 and a 68.

I am trying to stay true to the original design intent, but I didn’t like the idea of the wire rubbing on metal edges so I wrapped them. I used the same vinyl wrap as the front harness and used the cloth tape where the wires pass through the socket holes. Similar to the headlight harness in the front.

Did you use an original donor pan or aftermarket?

They they cut out the old at the seams and then hand fabricated it with a bead roller. When I started this 11 years ago there wasn’t much out there on the internet. And there were no after market trunk pans in existence for C bodies. A good 2 dr ht doner pan wasn’t in existence at the time.

That’s a teal good looking job you did in replacing all that rot and I’m jealous, I have a good trunk but my wheel wells and quarter panel needs replacing n damn rear window seal is leaking too and they don’t seem to make these anymore so I’m lost in what I’m gonna do when it comes time for the bodywork and shops to visit as I’m still ammasing parts from where ever I can including expensive EBay n shipping n duty to poor Canadian n poor $ exchange .... lol ... but if anyone has suggestions into this problem area n parts for my 67 , it would greatly be appreciated...
