Going on a limb here. I have seen at least two excellent examples of 68' 300's with a hood ornament in the past three weeks on this forum. My 68' does not have one. From my reading, 68's were not supposed to have them due to NHTS rules. That said, not sure if it was added or perhaps it was an early production situation, I think its a great addition to the car. Apparently the holes are in the 68' hood so if anybody has a good ornament they would part with. I am interested. PM is welcome. Thank you.

The same hood ornament is on the 66 300's. I have one I took off a car this spring It's only so so paid $50
There may be another one in the parts my Dad stripped of a car 30 years ago but those parts are in my brothers shed
out on his acreage.

I have one from a 66 on my 68 that I put on. It fits good, just does not have the safety spring that allows it to bend.

Would be interested in seeing what you have. I am seeing two different bases on the web. Would the more pointed base if available and correct. No panic. Thanks.

I will try to check out the one i have. the one on my car and the possibility of anything in my dads stash. But will be out of town a lot in November.

The spare one I have is not in good shape the short pin that keeps it straight is there but broken off .it does have the gasket.
I don't believe these hood ornaments ever had a spring in them. Both my spare and original are solid.

Yes, I believe they are solid. No spring. Thanks for the response.

I know the one that was on my first 68 did have some sort of spring that allowed it did move if you pushed side to side, the one that I bought for this one came off a 66 model and it is rigid, if you try to move it, it will break.
