Not sure about selling her, got this car in a trade in October and squirrelled money for a restoration and she left yesterday. Barn find galore obviousley, was in storage in VT for years. WELL preserved no rust at all! But cant get full story of how it came to me from a guy in western Mass. Mechanically sound, just rebuilding carb, replacing brake cylinders I blew out driving like a ape on the ride home. 383 4 barrel automatic, black interior with bench seat in excellent condition. Car was originally another color that was painted red. Changing top from white to black to match interior. Guy put a updated stereo in and split the dash. Got my mechanic replacing all the fluids and a prize winning painter doing a 2 stage red. My first day on this forum and havent found much info online for this model at auction. Dont know how to post pics but pics of her before going into restoration will only be so informative. Any and all help to treat market and sell this prize would be helpful. She arrived in CT yesterday, if you want to blow me out of the water with an offer go for it! Call or text 617 733 1612, Jeff

Truthfully, without a lot of pictures, it could be worth anywhere from a dollar ninety-eight up to that figure...

Judging from the pictures in the other thread it would take a lot to get it to a #2. Changing fluids and painting it doesn't quite get it there in my book. There is the entire 46 year old suspension to start with. Also feel the engine compartment would need to be cleaner and more detailed to be a #2 which is a high bar as there are few #1's.

Not only should a #2 look great but it should also be great mechanically and in having all the correct parts as is possible. I'm tough on that. Wrong hose, wrong radiator or gas cap and whack!

Do you have any documentation from the owner who traded in to you the the mileage is indeed 13K miles ?
If not there is no clear documentation or paper trail it's just another nice TMU vehicle without verification. Do you know if it's all numbers matching ?

pics and a little more..

Well, the mechanic is leaning toward yanking the engine, painting it and cleaning up the engine compartment. Numbers match, everything there and original. Besides top and paint and a tune up really needs nothing else. Rear speaker...window cranks greased..For $14k I'll keep it as my everyday driver! But if someone WANTS it, can give her a garage of her own....wont find one like this again.

Original white top obviously has to go. But very straight, rust free, and a very cool year. Im not into it much now but again if I can stir interest from someone....Coming out of restoration April 1 with pics all the way along. Make me an offer I cant refuse! LOL!

It really is a nice car, I think you will be enjoying it for many years to come.

Looks like most ot the originalty is gone..... Plastic rear window is a replacement. New top will cost a grand when all's said and done. Lots of detailing needs to be done and if your writing checks for that...... Well ..... The restro cost will excede the value of the car.

To bad you don't like the car because it looks like your married to it now.

a grand Will? Can you give me the # of your top replacement guy? i was figuring abt $16-1800 for my Polara.....or am I just way overestimating?

What a suprise........ I searched ebay for the company that I got my top from and ..... low & behold .... Theres Jazebelle ...... selling tops....!!!! LOL.

This is the top I bought, the glass window is about $225.00 additional and My trim guy installed it for $550.00.... So, yeah .... about a grand.
The company has been in business since 1919. My 71 year old, well seasoned trim guy said they were one of the best quality out there.

and it is the correct factory material? Interesting, most trim shops don't like the idea of you buying the top somewhere else and asking them to install and won't do it.

you are a lucky man!

An honest trim shop won't treat you like that. If a guy told me that i'd walk....! Most of the shops profit in in the installation. They will likely have their own top supplier and add a markup but it should be mimimal.

The flat rate to install a top on a 69 Chrysler is seven hours. Should be close to that for your Dodge. Ask what the shop hourly rate is and you'll get an idea of the labor charge.

My trimmers shop rate is $100.00 @ hr. But he usually gives me a break on my own stuff because I run a lot of work through his shop.

Not sure about the material. It looked like the material that was on my car but I think the top had been changed once before. I just think it looks good.

Hey idiot, why would you invite someone new to the site with that CRAP? Ive sold thousands of snakes online and ive run across 2-3 people I couldnt make happy. Not without effort! But the wonder of the internet is that a real IDIOT like you can just repost someone elses lies and pass it off as information. If you want to ask a question of me be a man about it. My cell is 617 733 1612, I'll give you my address here in Mass if you wanna see the car. But refrain from commenting on something you know nothing about....which seems to be alot!
