'67 Imperial wheelcover resto

That's a good lookin' cow right there!

Great tutorial Matt. You might want to take it easy on Woodward and maybe go up as far as Long Lake to see if you've got any vibration from the wheelcovers being out of balance. It should show up by the time you get to 50mph.

There are machines to balance a wheel & tire combo on a car, but I have absolutely no clue as to how those wheel covers were dynamically balanced. I guess if you do find a vibration and can narrow it down to one wheel, just try re-orienting the vanes by one bolt hole and try again?

I put 1,200 highway miles on it last weekend and didn't notice a thing...

That's good news. Sorry about the flatbed, but I'm glad to hear your wheelcovers worked out okay. Mine have been driving me nuts since I got the wheels rebalanced. They are way noisier now. It's really tough to look cool driving through town when your wheels make a schwing schwing schwing sound.

But in addition to making them look nicer, I'm thinking that doing the same thing you did would also make them quieter. Thanks again for doing this and taking so many pictures.

No problem. The car would be whisper quiet going down the road if it weren't for the Flowmaster 50s I put on the day before we left for Carlisle. The mufflers I replaced were about as loud but the 50s sound much better.

My '66 Imperial supposedly has the Walker HEMI mufflers under it, but I've yet to crawl under and check that. It has a truly wonderful, mellow Chrysler sound!

Now I'm gonna have to re-do MY Imperial covers...gee, thanks! LOL!
