Going to look at a '67 Monaco 2Dr.hdtp. (supposed to be a 500) today. Being unfamiliar with these cars, I am looking for some advice as to what to look for/look at to determine whether to buy or not.
It's been sitting under cover for 25+ years, (it has some rust) but only 60+k miles. I know it has the metal backed buckets, center console auto, and told 383.
Suggestions?
thanks

Under cover for 25+ years.... Where? Makes all the difference in the world.

Some places to look for rust. Check the condition of wide lower moldings and the vinyl top looking for rust underneath. Also check the lower lip of the trunk lid for rust issues. The obvious places to check with all C bodies are the stub frame, floors and trunk. Bring a magnet and screw driver. If the car has been in storage for long make sure the 383 turns over.

Look along the bottom of the doors for rust, also the bottom of the fenders behind the front wheels, inside the cowl, in the front footwells where rainwater may have leaked in, under the trunk mat. Good luck, I hope it's nice.

I loved my Monaco. It's a loooooong car, just so you know that about parking it.

Results of examination of the Monaco on the '67 383 h.p. post.
Thanks for your advice.

I like it when people put tarps over cars to protect them, that just accelerates the decay by trapping moisture from condensation.

did you know about the bodies before it was announced? I am now more intrigued about that photo ...

it gets worse. they found a 50' chevy there too, with two more dead bodies, missing from around 1962 or so. The story was on Fox last August, I believe.

Well, considering that they found three people in that Camaro that had been missing since 1970, that particular pic is pretty tasteless in this particular post.

I did not know that was the situation, I found that photo along with several others showing cars that were found & recovered throughout the United States that were sitting in quarries, harbors, rivers, lakes, ponds not at all mentioning the morbidness of any hidden contents of human remains. It was not my intent to be tasteless or morbid sorry that you took it that way,, Nothing in this photo shows or states anything about what was or was not found at the scene of the photo.

Anyone know the mileage on that camaro and is it on the market yet?

And was that lake mcconaughy? If so I'll be a little grossed out.
