The seller has nothing to lose by not responding to a low (in his mind) offer. You have to shove the cash in his face.

I have asked for the interior shots. The other thing that scares me is the lack of registration. If the car was registered in BC in the past then I would have to try to contact the PO and if he is alive he can just take the car back. I would be out my cash if he wanted it back. If is has never been registered here, well, that will be difficult establishing legal ownership.

Still, I have gathered the requisite $1000 Commando1 suggested. We'll see.

So. . . I take it that the car has no title ?

I would be tempted still 67 and earlier are easy that's why vin stampings changed in 68 that's all I'm going to say no more red flags and lurker ideas

Oh, I know I could just dump in any pre-68 engine in and no one would be the wiser, but dude is asking a lot for a car without the drive train, that he has no title to, that he has no keys for, that has rough rear seats, a damaged door (previous ad he mentioned a damaged door but he has a good spare), and what appears to be a rather flaky attitude. I'll let someone else sort through that mess. If he takes my original offer, that might change my mind.

Looks to me like bring 500 bucks and tow it home.
If you need it.
If it's close by.
If you have the space.

Nobody needed it.........
It's a terrible shame but he's not really the twat.

He's a twat because he kept changing his price and misrepresenting his car. No rust then rust then damaged passenger side then floor boards rotted. It's hard to deal with a guy who who can't get his story straight in his ads. Then says he won't part it out yet obviously parts it out.
