Has anyone put the 15x8.5 Torq Thrusts with 3.77 or 3.81 backspace on a '68 Fury?

I've got 15x7 cop wheels with 4.25 BS on it now and the sidewall is like 3" away from the lip and it looks kinda dopey to me. I'd like to move the tires out closer to the lip but I wonder if losing a 1/2 inch of BS and adding 1.5 inches of width will be too much.

Remember that the rubber eye bushings and the rear rubber shackle bushiness will deflect with cornering forces. Which can make that "static" space diminish quickly, but not all of it. Plus, that dimension between the sidewall and the inner quarter panel lip can vary from side to side, by observation. What's the dimension between the inner sidewall and the leaf spring itself?

On my '66 Newport, once the fender skirts are removed, on the lh side I can put my hand into the scrub brush handle (to clean the whitewalls) and it all fits easily between the tire and the body. On the rh side, it's tighter. SO, that "dopey" look you mention is normal. No need to spend money on tires/wheels that can compromise the way you have to drive the car to not have car/tire contact, at least the way I see it. These particular Chrysler products DO go around corners better than other cars of that vintage, which makes them more fun to drive, to me. BTAIM But as you'll be the one dealing with those things, have fun!

Just some thoughts,
