Was hoping to fix or replace original. Have had a replacement wired up since purchase of car. It's out of cluster now and nothing visibly cooked.Simple.
Run a 10 gauge wire from the BATT stud back of alternator to the BATT studd of starter relay. At relay use a 14 gauge fusible link or in line 30 amp fuse.
Done
Optional is an aftermarket ALT gauge. plug into a switched 12 volt source and ground it to body. (Dash, firewall, etc)
Ammeter will not read but at least the car will function.
Replacement Ammeter gauges are common on E bay.
I also have spares if needed.
Regardless, keep the bypass wire in place--it will save your car from burning to the groundWas hoping to fix or replace original. Have had a replacement wired up since purchase of car. It's out of cluster now and nothing visibly cooked.
