Man that is nice, but can't see how he can justify $10K asking price, 47K miles or no. I think this one will be sitting awhile or he'll find some sucker to cough up the dough.

That's a clean NY'er. No A/C. I don't think it's worth anything near $10k.

That 73 Imp is holding steady at $5600 on EBay. 5 days to go.

This car would be nice if it had more options or a TNT. Nice body and its in Buffalo, go figure.

He wont get half of the 10k

Ya, I know. It's 220 hp. He said he'll just keep it. BTW, the 73 is near Pittsburgh.

Wait a minute, the ignition switch was seriously lower left of the column on these?

Yes, but only for the 69' model yr. Location changed to the steering column position in 70' and onward.

By 1968, the National Highway Safety Bureau began looking at anti-theft devices in a new light. They could also be considered safety devices as well. So it was decided that for 1970, all cars would be required to have anti-theft ignition locks on them that not only locked the ignition when the key was removed, but they also locked the steering wheel and automatic transmission shifter. Chrysler fought this mandate, stating it required additional time to design such a device, asking for it to be pushed back to 1971, but their request was denied

Was the alarm for the key left in lock mandated as well, or did they just "throw" this terror device kindly in while at it ?

Regarding prices, I just happen to have a 2012 issue of Collectible Automobile here that seriously claims an early 90s Dodge Monaco sedan, which is a disguised Renault development would be 7-14k in mint condition, they can't be serious if you compare this to cited prices for real American Mopar full size cars of the 60s.

That gem was the result from people locking the car with the keys still in the ignition.

I only had a cursory notion about what was behind the brewhaw over the ignition lock thing back then, mainly b/c I wasn't there...but thanks for the detailed info. Now I know what really went down and got Chrysler to switch the switch locations. I've never owned a mopar with the ignition not on the steering column.

My' 68 Cutlass has the key-in-ignition buzzer. I think that was the first year for it, at least in GM cars. Dunno if it was a federal mandate for '68.

Chrysler also had a problem with the Feds for the 1968 model year cars. The Feds mandated side marker lights are on all 1968 cars. Chrysler wasn't going to put them on and the Feds told Chrysler that they wouldn't being selling any cars. Chrysler at the last minute scrambled to get side marker lights and that's why you see the round side marker lights on 1968 Dodge and Plymouth cars. That was the only year for the round side markers lights, Chrysler used different side markers. I think Chrysler went to a hybrid rectangular light/reflector for 1969.
