Chrysler also had a problem with the Feds for the 1968 model year cars. The Feds mandated side marker lights are on all 1968 cars. Chrysler wasn't going to put them on and the Feds told Chrysler that they wouldn't being selling any cars. Chrysler at the last minute scrambled to get side marker lights and that's why you see the round side marker lights on 1968 Dodge and Plymouth cars. That was the only year for the round side markers lights, Chrysler used different side markers. I think Chrysler went to a hybrid rectangular light/reflector for 1969.
I always liked those round side marker lights Chrysler used in '68. They looked unique.
