69 Polara, very dim dome light

It's great to see no one losing there patience and getting snippy with the OP. Electrical is gard. I also don't understand a single aspect of electrical work. I'm not adding anything of importance other than great job guys helping and not losing patience

Thx everyone for all your help, I also know nothing about this electrical stuff but it's never too late to learn

A quick picture of your ohm/voltmeter would help guide us to the meter you are using and the correct settings to measure your voltage

Ok, replaced with the correct bulb, it's a little brighter but now I have another issue

It's a rectangle dome light with a switch on the front. With the switch all the way forward it's off all the time, even with the doors open. I can't seem to get it to stay snapped closed, and every time it loosens the lights go out.

Also with the switch all the way forward it seems to hold the lens in tightly (?)

So right now if I put the switch rearward it's on all the time, forward it's off all the time

checked the dimmer switch it has no effect

Is this an electric switch or just to move the shade inside?
