Was originally yellow, obviously.

This 1970 Plymouth Fury is believed to be an unmarked detective car from a small town in Mississippi (per the previous owner). It is equipped with a 383 big block engine which I believe to be original to the car. A recent compression test showed 140 to 150 lbs in all cylinders. It has factory air conditioning which needs servicing. The transmission was recently rebuilt at a cost of over $800 and operates and shifts as it should. The interior will need some work (rear seat covers, small seam separation on front seat and a new headliner. The body panels are rust free but will require finishing (door dings, small dents) to make the car show quality. There are 2 rust areas in the trunk pan that will need attention. The is an excellent candidate to create a replica police car, fire chiefs car or vintage taxi. The car is currently registered, insured and is on the road. Recent oil change, tuneup and 20 point inspection. Located in Stuart Florida.

Is that yellow? Looks more gold? Anyway, externally this thing looks exactly like my very first Plymouth Fury in Aus! Only mine was an ex US consulate car, well so I was told.

Why do people "fake up" cars like that? I was posting a "Fire Chief" Polara for sale near me until I found out it was a replica. I mean, what's the point? Do people want to buy stuff like that?

Fake or whatever, I like it! Show me a black Fusie more door, and I'm in love, lol!

Did anyone notice the RF fender is from a Sport Fury with cornering lamp and the LF fender is the correct one for the car.

IMG_3851.jpgThis car is not a Police Package car, nor was it purported to be. The previous owner says his grandfather was a detective in a small police department in Mississippi and was able to buy the car back from the city after his retirement. I believe that because the department was so small, they just ordered a bare bones sedan from the local mopar dealer. It's pretty sparse for a Fury III with non tinted glass, no fender turn signal indicators and a non remote drivers side mirror. I can forward a pic of the fender tag and yes, many people convert this type of car to police/fire vehicles or taxis as long as they are sedans with a post. Here is one I did a few years ago: www.nypd71fury.com

I consider myself very fortunate and think it's every car guy's dream to have his car featured in a magazine like Hemmings. Thanks for the compliment. Jim
