It is fine finally in the garage. Lights, lift and heat! The nose will be coming off first.as I have said before, I have owned this since 1993, having bought it from my ex father in law. (Still get along, unlike his daughter). After I bought it but before picking it up, it got Backed into by an 19 wheeler. The left from fender and drivers door were a mess. I have a full front and doors from another 70 Fury and some of those will now be going on it. Most likely will stick with the 318 and rebuild it. It is going to lose the Ford green and go back to its original deep burnt orange. The rear quarters are under way too much bond right now. I am hoping to find a source for new quarters, if anyone knows of one please share.
Hoping to have it done in a few months. This will be my first time restoring , and have high hopes to make a driver out of it that we can enjoy, not a trailer queen. Any input is welcome and wanted.

First let me say it is always nice to see the start of a restoration thread here. Your garage is awesome. I applaud your decision to go with the burnt orange. It's a great colour and to get an idea what the end product will look like check out the pics of Dave's 70 Polara ragtop still with nice original paint. Also you can't go wrong with the 318 if your intention for the car is a cruiser. Great on gas and plenty of guts to keep up with traffic. I kept the 318 in my 70 Polara ragtop. It was a stock rebuild. I decided to go with the original light green colour. Not sure of the production #s on your car but my guess is around 1200? IMHO when they are that rare keep them stock. I will be following this thread with interest.

Burnt orange is a great color, one of the best IMO. That's a very optimistic schedule you've set for the project, best of luck with it. I'll be watching your progress if you'll be posting it. No good aftermarket metal is available for the C-bodies which in itself will add some time to your schedule....

Yep, December 10th.

:sSig_greetingsthor: ............. :welcome:

Looks like a great project, and having a nice, warm workplace will be a big plus.

I love those big Furys and your decision to go back to the original color is a wise choice.
Hard to beat a 318 in a driver/cruiser IMO. Smooth, strong and economical.

Keep us updated, and good luck.

Very nice Fury...keep the pictures of the restoration coming.

I searched past threads and didn't find this, so I will ask. Has anyone on here dealt with Restoration parts galore? they have a new gas tank on e-bay for my Fury for $260.00, and have good reviews, just wanted to see if they were all they say they are. Thanks for any info you can provide.

99.9% chance it's the Quantas unit. Buy it from your local big box auto parts store or a well known reputable online dealer.

I can get one from NAPA for $409. I have never bought from ebay, and saw the price difference, thanks for the info

Been a while, but an update.the engine is free and as soon as the new freeze plugs are in it will get started. Hopefully in The next week the entire nose will be off. The brakes are down to just the lines. Gas tank Ordered. Scary part comes when the gentleman gives the price on the new rear quarters. He custom builds and said it was no Big issue. Hope that translates to price....
I do have a question, I have a set of rear fender skirts and am hoping for opinions ( Like they are hard to get here) on putting them on this car.

That honestly brings a better question. The skirts I have came off a 1971 sport fury. Were skirts available on 1970 convertibles?

I agree with Stan on the skirts. Also the RWL truck tires need to go. IMHO turning them around and going with the straight black wall is better.

On some cars the skirts are designed as part of the overall style of the car, and the car looks out of place without them.
No so with your car. The skirts need to go. And I agree about the RWL tires.... reverse them, or better yet, whitewalls.

Learned from dismantling this far that the passenger side front fender was nowhere as good as I had thought. I now will be replacing both fenders and drivers door.
